I'm hoping someone can look at these pictures and maybe offer an educated guess as to what breed Podge is! I think he's a mix because he was at the shelter with his 7 other siblings and there was a range of sizes, shapes, and fur textures. I don't mean super varied- not like one was rex and one was a Lionhead- but some buns had longer silkier fur, Podge has fluffy fur, one of his sisters was quite a bit smaller, one brother was very long, one had a much pointier face. That kind of thing. If it helps, of 8 babies, 4 were agouti, 1 was black with white guard hairs, and 3 were red eyed whites.

Here is Mr. Podgie. He was the biggest baby of the group and has the roundest shape. His face/snout/whatever was the roundest, too. His estimated age is 13 weeks and as of a few minutes ago, he weighs 4 lbs 2 oz. He was 11 weeks old when these pictures were taken:

Here are some of his siblings if it may help. These pictures were taken at about 9 weeks so younger than the above photos:

Any idea what breed mix he could be? He may not look really chubby in pictures, but when you pick him up, you can feel how rotund and solid he is. Definitely not a dainty bunny. He also has really big front paws!

Here are his past weights. Any guesses as to how big he will get?

11 weeks (estimated) on 6/3/12: 3 lbs 8 oz
12 weeks on 6/9/12: 3 lbs 13 oz, a gain of 5 oz in 6 days
13 weeks on 6/18/12: 4 lbs 2 oz, a gain of 5 oz in 9 days

Thanks so much :D Podge is a shy little guy, but very nosy and playful and I'm completely in love with him and enjoying spoiling him immensely (enough ands for ya?)!

I really have no idea what he could be, but he sure is a cutie!!! I think he'll be smaller than a Californian or a French Lop, though. Ours weighed in at 13 weeks between 7 and 8 pounds.

Wow, big baby, Wendy! He is already our biggest bunner. He weighs twice as much as our smallest bunny, Kerensa, who is a 2 year old Holland Lop. Maybe Podge will top out at about 5 lbs?

I still think lop cause he is suuper pudgey and uppy earred buns are normally sleeker. 8-10lbs maybe (feed him his spinach haha)

I might be totally wrong, but he really reminds me of a champagne d'argent. Just an idea. :)

He is so super cute! :inlove:

I was wondering about lop because of the roundness. Also the one sibling's ears look like they are on their way to lopping. Probably a mish-mash, but so super sweet. :)

Lop, perhaps. But it's got something else in there that took over, because the ears are the only thing that might be lop-like. The face shape, body, etc. is screaming something else. I just can't quite make out what it's screaming. LOL

Wendy, you made me laugh :D Thanks for the input, everyone! Wonder if anyone else will look at the pictures and be able to figure it out? What mysterious little bunnies. We also have 0 idea what our boy Ned is. He's just bunny perfection :D

Glad I could provide some comic relief. :) I really have NO clue what he could be. But he is definitely cute! Heck, I'm just now studying the rabbit breeds. I really hope some others jump in here, who know a whole lot more about the different breeds than I do!

I haven't the slightest clue! Your lil guy has me completely stumped. I've never seen one quite like him. Sure, I've seen baby giants, but his head shape is not at all as round as I've seen. I'm really curious to see if anyone can identify the possible breed(s)! He sure is adorable

Definitely unique looking, so hard to say. Those one sibling's ears are lopping over at the lop, so there has to be some lop thrown in there somewhere...maybe...but he has an odd face shape...I really have no clue! A classic Heinz 57 mix to me.

Orson, the bun with the lopped ear tips, does not have his ears like that all the time. One of the times we saw him his ears were completely straight, and the other time I could see a hint of the tips flopping. Our Podgie does it a little bit sometimes as well. Like LindseyG said, Orson's ears look like an angora's! Maybe they are part angora. Yesterday I found a knot of fur on Podge's side, something I've never found on my other bunnies! Maybe it's just because he's young, but when he's full grown, if he's still so fluffy, maybe we can come to the conclusion that he's part angora :)

I say they are half english angora. They really do look like an english that is shaved down lol especially with those ears. Also the wool gene is recessive so it would not show up in first generation mixes. Also ear tips that flop like that are only in one breed that I know of, the English angora. Is your guy very calm and cuddly? My angora do the same thing with the tips of their ears, sometimes they stand up straight and sometimes the flip over just depends on their mood. lol Usually when they are adults though they stay down all the time.

:bagheadThat's what it is, English Angora, not lop! I wasmisplacing theresenbalnce.

He looks a lot like Houdini when I first got him. He was all shaved down then and I havn't cut his hair since. The ears are totally an EA thing. I should have known by the mischievious look on his face. Total trouble makers (in the cutest sense of the phrase).

It will be interesting to watch him grow and mature.

Does any one know if there is a blood test for rabbits to tell what kind of breeds are in the background the same way you can have dogs tested? It would just be really cool on some of the mixes to see if there were surprises. I bet there would be lots.

Thanks so much for the tips, everyone! Maybe he is indeed part Angora. It's so hard to tell what an Angora really looks like under all that fur! I will post pictures of him again when he is full grown, that may help.

His personality is very endearing. He's a shy little man. We've had him for 3 weeks now and he's one of the shyest bunnies I've ever had. He lets me pet him, but he often looks a little scared and sometimes moves away from me. He also lets me pick him up with no problem and does not struggle even though I know he's scared. Not trying to scare him of course, just trying to help him adjust! He's such a darling little fellow and is definitely making me earn his love :D I am completely crazy about him! Oh and when he's out of his cage, he's very curious and likes to explore and binky, but does come over to visit me sometimes. My little Padraig is such a sweetheart!
