Alright, so for the longest of time, I've thought Min was a lilac chinchilla, but I was never really sure.
It's time for 4-H and I'll be showing him in august, so I must know his exact color.

Here he is-

I can get more pictures later if needed. I'm still working on getting him to sit still and bunch up long enough to take a picture.

Thanks guys!

Thank you!

I forgot to mention! Both his parents are Blue chinchilla, but I know his grand-sire on his sire's side is black. The dams side of the family is a complete mystery.

In arba shows lops are only shown in broken and solid. I would hope 4H shows follow those same rules.

Also if you could get a picture of the hairshafts that might be helpful

It looks like a lilac chin to me. He looks like Boo, and that's what she is. Here's Boo...

Sarah- I'm not sure how they do colors. I just know they have junior and senior bucks, and junior and senior does. But I can most defiantly talk to the judges and see!

The only thing thats leading me to think he may be a lynx or something is he has a brown nose and light brown dusting towards the bottom on his hindquarters... but both is blue chinchilla parents have that too, though is black chinchilla brother doesn't have the brown nose.

yes mini lops are a 4class breed so there is no intermediate class just jr and senior bucks and does. That is the age and sex but as far as variety or color lops are shown in either the solid or broken class. On your cards I would write SOLID lilac chin so they won't accidently put you in the broken class if they split them up that way

Good Luck! :D

Well I showed his sire, who is a blue chinchilla, and I was with a New Zealand. In 4-H, they split it up by exhibitors age, and then the rabbits age/class type, I think.
I'll be showing him and a broken chocolate chestnut agouti doe this year.

Showmanship is split by age. The youth classes should be split by breed. You'd need to know the color for showmanship, but for the regular youth classes he'd just go in the solid Mini Lop class.

And pssst...I saw that. LOL

Yeah, for non-4-H shows, he would be a solid junior mini lop buck, but in 4-H, he would just be a junior buck.
so he is definitely a lilac chinchilla. That's good!

Thanks guys!

I guess not... when I show this year, I'll write everything down and talk to the 4-H show coordinator.
Last year at county in my group, there were only 2 people, me and my solid blue chinchilla junior buck, and a girl my age with her New Zealand junior buck....

Ohhhhhhhhh! Our 4-H livestock shows (with the exception of the horses) are during our HUGE agricultural fair. I didn't realize your rabbit 4-H group was so small. Even so, not sure how fair that is to you guys...it's more like showing for BIS instead of your rabbit classes.

Our state fair classes were a lot bigger and it seemed a little bit more complicated... its a good thing I'm showing a broken and a solid, we'll be able to find out how both of the fairs class the rabbits.
I'll keep you guys posted on this as it gets towards fair time. I'll make another post for it in the same part of the forum as this one.
