I was wondering if anyone has had someone come to there house to take care of their rabbit if they have gone away. We are going to be going away for a week and I want someone to come to my house and feed the rabbit and cat. The cat just has to be fed and let in and out but they would have to feed the bunny and probably change her box twice. I was wondering what I would offer for money. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm actually going to Hawaii for about 10 days soon. And am definitely hiring someone to watch the animals. Normally if it is only a few days a good friend of mine will stop in on them. I have boarded Harvey before but this time I am getting a sitter. I believe she quoted me $25 per visit. Boarding was $12 per animal. If I can get another friend to do it I will give him roughly about the same to come in every day. I do have quite a few to look after so yeah I'd feel bad if I didn't offer my friend something.

I have someone come in to watch the pets. I'm traveling next month and it will be the first time she watches the bunnies.

She has a company that's licensed/bonded/insured/all that good stuff.

My grandpa takes care of all the fur babies when we're away, but mostly their with us. We don't leave much because of the farm / bee's, ect.. But I'd suggest a person that's inexpensive and certified, or a kennel for rabbits. Someone you can trust, or family.

Miss Hoppy was lucky, either my Dad or my mum-in-law would come by every couple days to put out new food, but as she was the "grand bunny," we didn't pay them, but just brought something back from the trips for them. It was funny, because my Dad is such a big guy Miss Hoppy was scared of him, so he'd report in "I saw no rabbit anywhere (he knew not to go poking in her hiding spots) but somebody sure at the food I put out! Must have hungry ghosts ..."

I'd ask around, and when someone say they can and will do it, ask how much $ they would think is fair.

I have hired a Vet Tech who started her own Pet Sitting Business.

She came in twice a day, morning and evening to feed and clean litter boxes. I had all their greens cleaned and bagged separately for each meal and one extra for each of them just in case I couldn't get back.

I had everything typed out for her so she knew what to do. I had all the clean linens ready, pellets were in the snack ziplock bags, Treats were also in the baggies named for each bunny. I was very organized.

She charged $16 for 40 minutes so $32 a day, Well worth it to me. I also have a friend for back up should something happen with the pet sitter.

Yes, we have a pet sitter come to watch our rabbit and cat while we are away. She had posted an ad in our local pet store and that's how we found her. She's really nice and very knowledgeable about rabbits. Only charges $15 per visit. I'm not sure how long she is normally here, but I would guess not more than an hour each visit.

I also have a professional pet sitter that I use. She charges $14 per visit and comes 2x per day. Like Sooska, I pre-bag their salads. I've been using her for several years. She even gives Sparky her daily metacam.

i have family members stay at my house. I have 3 dogs, 2 rabbits, 4 cats and a ferret. Since they are here I feel safer. I have a dog with health problems rabbits need to be watered 4 times a day, cats litter box needs changed 2 times a day. Ferret litter box changed 2-4 times a day. If I had people just "stop by" I would be afraid they will leave the door open and the dogs will get out(it is a hard door to close and if it doesnt click you have to jiggle the door handle to make it close). If someone is here they will know the dogs got out. So I prefer having family members/friends stay.

For payment- we provide the food and then give them 40-80$ depending on how long we have to be gone.

Also just as a side note- leave the phone number to your vets office and write a note saying in case of an emergency that person has a right to take the animal in. You might even want to call your vet and tell them that. There has been cases where some vet offices won't except animals because they were not given the owners permission. It has happened to me once and now my vet knows that, whoever is taking care of my animals can take them in.

We left about a week ago an left our dogs and bun in our neighbors care... He comes over 2/3 times a day and feeds and plays with all of them... We aren't back home yet but spoke to him yesterday and he said everything is going just fine! And he always refuses to accept money from us, so we usually just bring him back some things from wherever we go...

When we're out of town Timmy goes to my 83 year old grandma's house. We send him in a smaller cage we have and he doesn't get out time mostly because we're worried she won't be able to catch him but she does spend time talking to him and petting him and really enjoys having him. We've also boarded buns at the vet I used to work at.
