QUESTION: Rascal still having orange bottom after the other day when I washed him off and cleaned his glands. I washed him off again with water. Should I take him to vet? He eats, drinks, pees and poos. Nothing different. Nothing in his glands again. Just don't know what to do.... please help. Thanks!!

I didn't see your previous posts, so am not sure what you mean by orange bottom. Is the hair stained or is it something orange color on the hair.

Sorry, it's wet and orange from urine.I cleaned his scent glands hoping that would help but 2 days later he's wet again with urine. (I had posted on Facebook RO and my FB.)

Thanks..

If it was just stained, I'd say it may just take a while for the hair to grow, but if he is consistently soaking himself with urine, I'd definitely say it's time for a vet visit as it could be some kind of infection, not to mention urine scald can be quite painful.

Yes, he's staying wet. I just checked him this morning, and he's still wet with urine. I will call vet tomorrow and have him checked.

Thank you everyone!! :)

Is he overweight? If so, the problem might be that he can't properly groom himself. It sounds like more of a problem than that, but thought I'd mention it just in case.

rabbits sometimes have orange urine, it can be caused by diet, dehydratioin or stress , alotta times i noticed the first freeze most of my rabbits got it....but it goes away on a few days just be sure hes got plenty of fresh water.....does his cage have a wire floor or solid bottom, his bottom shouldn't stay wet if there is a wire floor , getting him checked isnt a bad idea if that is the case...... hope that helps some

He has a NIC cage with coroplast floor with cardboard on top of the coroplast (for traction). I think the vet checking him will prob be best. I can't figure out whats going on.
