Do bunnies nails slow down growing as they get older? Spike is almost 5 now, and we took him to get his nails trimmed in the fall (the vet does it better than we do). He still does not need them trimmed yet. We used to take him 2-3 times a year. He is acting normal, his paws look normal, and his diet is the same as it always has been (lots of greens, a few pellets and a TON of hay). He is playing a lot, though, and constantly plays on his hay mat and the floor - I'm wondering if he is just wearing them down on his own.

Should I be concerned? :?

I wouldn't be concerned at all. I think that some rabbit's nails do slow down their growth depending on age and nutrition. As long as his nails aren't breaking off (they'd have very rough edges), everything's good.

No ripping or anything. They actually look very neat and clean. Thanks for the reply. We are now considering the possibility that he is keeping them from growing with sheer willpower because he doesn't want a trip to the vet, lol!
