Unfortunately this story does not have a happy ending. :(

S'more has had some problems since bringing her home (overgrown teeth, fleas, etc), but on Sunday morning I noticed ring worms that weren't there on Saturday. All the vets were closed, so we were going to bring her in first thing on Monday morning. Sunday evening she started losing energy. She wouldn't eat, drink, or hop.

I went to Walgreen's and got a syringe, plus some baby food carrots. When I got back, we syringe fed her some water and carrots. She ate a little bit of the carrots. After a few hours, she started hopping a little bit, so we took that as a good sign. She also kept getting this blockage in her nose that had to be picked out.

We tried to stay up all night to watch her, but lasted until about 2am. We brought her to bed with us, figuring we could at least hear if something went wrong. At about 3am she started wheezing really loudly.

My boyfriend immediately checked her nose for blockages, but there were none to speak of. He rushed her to the bathroom for better light. The gasping continued, but it was calm and not panicky. He held her and rubbed her chest in a sort of pseudo-Heimlich maneuver. S'more looked peaceful as her gasps grew fewer and farther in between. Eventually, they just stopped.

Even though she was only in our lives for nine days, she has forever changed it for the better.

Rest in peace S'more

Awww. This made me cry. Poor bunbun ):

Rest in peace, S'more. :dutch:rainbow:

I'm glad she had a good last 9 days:bunnyhug:

It was probably the best nine days of her life, poor thing.

Sorry for your loss. What a sweetie. Reminded me of my Gracie. ApparentlyS'mores had been sick for awhile. Rabbits are good at hiding their illnesses. It's a shame her previous people didn't care enough about her.

This brought tears to my eyes..poor little bunny...she looked so happy and content to be in a loving home...something she probably didn't even know...so her last nine days were probably the best she ever had and at least she passed away somewhere safe and warm....she was a very beautiful little girl.

It looks like you gave her a good last few days of her life. You were meant to find her and send her over the Rainbow Bridge, knowing love and comfort.

S'more looked so happy. Hearing she died made me tear up. :( At least you gave her a chance! You might want to be extra careful about your other bunnies' health though. I found that my rabbits caught ringworm extremely easily and it's a big reason I'm reluctant to volunteer at the humane society.

I'm so sorry. It sounds like she was really quite sick when you picked her up. At least she knew what it was like to be loved and cherished in her 9 days with you, rather than just knowing what it is to be thrown away. It was so kind-hearted of you to see her and pick her up right there, to see a problem and do whatever you could to fix it for her. Poor little girl had a great life for at least a little bit of time.

Binky free, S'more.
