Eating a number of small meals per day is actually healthier than eating larger meals 3x per day.

Depending on the local customs, tea may be an afternoon break, snack, or may be the equivalent of an evening meal.

In some countries, tea is actually a morning meal/break.

Despite British colonization, the US and Canada really didn't continue the tradition of the British tea.

Here in Australiathe aussies usually do say tea..as in your evening meal..but then other aussies say dinner...ihavealwaysknown it astea..

I think in america dinner is usually dinner, or supper. Tea is not commonly known as a meal at all... At least in my understanding. Tea is a beverage when one does not want coffee lol

Thanks, I've seen you use it and I was wondering.
And yes, I know tea is a beverage, i drink it everyday lol :p

In Ireland we say dinner, but I know some British and Aussies say tea, which is dinner. In Ireland, tea is just a drink. (Irish drink more tea per person then any other country). Some Irish people say teas as well for a small evening meal, between Supper and dinner, but it is usually like buns, biscuits, cakes, scones etc.

..I forgot to write..
(total blonde moment)
I meant to write ' I've heard of this before, we sometimes do that here. I just didn't understand why people would have a huge meal, instead of cookies XD '

Tea has multiple meanings here haha, tea can mean dinner, a drink, or morning tea which is like the light meal between brekkie and lunch.

Brandy have you never stopped at tim's for a coffee. well in England they stop to have a cup of tea and they call it tea time.

As an English person i have to reply! Having a cup of tea isn't 'tea time'. Tea is usually a light evening meal, proper food not just cakes or biscuits, and dinner is your main meal of the day, some people have their dinner at lunch or some have it in the evening, but if they have their main meal in the evening, the lunchtime meal is just called lunch, not tea.
