I have a nice yard with a privacy fence and wouldlove to let Daisy and Rosie out to run and play without anyrestrictions. I do have some poisonous plants along the edges and wouldlike to know how I could possibly let them out without worry of themeating something toxic. Also, we do have to treat for fire ants andwould like to know if after it rains or we water and the granulesdissolve if it is safe for the rabbits to be out on the grass, and canthey eat grass without getting sick. I have a pen but really would lovefor them to be able to go for it.

Thanks, Donnette

If you have poisonous plants and use pesticidesto get rid of the ants, it's really not best to put them out in theyard, maybe rope off a large portion without the ants (an area the antsdon't go, or you don't treat) and it is away from the poisonous plants.

Ellie, you are right on.

Sadly, with the conditions you stated there would be no way to just let them go.

I would go with the pen. Another option would be to put thebunn on a leash and harness. That way you can follow them around whilethey explore; while at the same time being able to keep them awayfromthe danger areas.

I have 2 - a male Dutch named Daisy weoriginally thought was a girl. My daughter begged to get a rabbit (sheis 7) promising to take care of it, I knew she wouldn't be able tohandle itand I secretly wanted to get one. He was fun andplayful. Then one day we stopped at a pet store and there was this lonebunny there, I had been thinking of getting a playmate for Daisy, Iheld the bunny and she was making a loud noise, not knowing anything Iassumed she was purring or making happy noises. I just couldn't leaveher there so I bought her. I took her to the doctor and she was closeto pneumonia. Diasy liked Rosie at first, I got Daisy neutered in themeantime. Then one day I came home to house full of mostly grey fur.Now Rosie will not go near Daisy for anything and she is constantlyrunning from him. I recently moved her cage at night. Daisy has gottena little aggressive towards all of us. Rosie on the other hand is sosweet and her fur is so so soft. What about you, how manybunnies do you have and please tell me about them.:D

I have two wonderful buns, Bramble and Briar (hence the screen name, lol)

I got them both back in December through a 4-H group that rescues buns from shelters and adopts them out for free to 4-Hers.

Briar- age-??? gender-buck weight-six pounds breed: lop mix

(I'm hoping to get more pictures of Bramble soon.)

They both live outside in our barn...they have an outdoor pen (whichthey are in right now) neither of them are fixed, so, they doeverything thing together, but behind bars, lol.

I think that it's great the way you took them both in. Rosie is especially lucky you came and saved her.

I myself have only the one rabbit. His name is Apollo and he'sa white Flemish buck. I have a thread called Apollo's Acres that hastons of pics of my baby. In July I am adding two Flemish girls into themix.

I think the harness and leash will be fun for both you and thebunny. They get to play and you get to see their reactions to differentthings.

Your babies are so precious. My son and I went toa pet store last night, actually the one where I got Rose and there wasabout 8 little sweeties there, If I could I would rescue all of them. They are so sweet. bun buns forever!!!:D

When I moved to my apartment the former tenantshad a 6'x6' garden in the backyard. I expanded the garden to 10'x14',but I kept the old fence rolled up at the side of the house. I use itto set up a temporary play area for the buns when the weather is nice.

We only had trouble with it once. Last summer I had Poco and Jellybeanout in the play area and Hef was in his cage in the backyard when thelandlady's gradchildren wandered out back to my yard with her Cockapoo.Well, Hef went crazy smelling the dog and started bouncing aroung hiscage until lid flew open and he crashed into the temporary fence. Thenext thing I knew there were bunnies, kids, adults and a dog racing allover the yard! It must've looked like a cartoon with Scott and Itrying to catch the buns while keeping the dog away and not trippingover the kids! We were finally able to get everything under control, but *whew*!

:shock:poor scared buns...LMBO! that's soundshilarious, i can picture one of those black and white sound-lesscartoons, you running around after the buns, the buns running from youand dogs and people....lol.
