I hope I am allowed to post this I just thought it was important because of the issues with deregulation

Mods- please feel free to pull this if this is too controversial

DISCLAIMER- I did not write this- I had it sent to me by a local tack store..

THIS IS A GOOD DECENT MAN WHO TOOK THE TIME TO WRITE THIS AND: HE SIGNED THE STATEMENT AND: INCLUDED HIS CONTACT INFO:

I'm sure those of you who aren't in the cattle business don't understand the issues here. But to those of us whose living depends on the cattle market, selling cattle, raising the best beef possible... This is frustrating.

This will keep us from ever stopping there again, even for a drink.

The original message is from the Texas Cattle Feeders Association American cattle producers are very passionate about this.

McDonald's claims that there is not enough beef in the USA to support their restaurants.. Well, we know that is not so. Our opinion is they are looking to save money at our expense. The sad thing of it is that the people of the USA are the ones who made McDonald's successful in the first place, but we are not good enough to provide beef.

We personally are no longer eating at McDonald's, which I am sure does not make an impact, but if we pass this around maybe there will be an impact felt.

Please pass it on. Just to add a note:

All Americans that sell cows at a livestock auction barn had to sign a paper stating that we do NOT EVER feed our cows any part of another cow. South Americans are not required to do this as of yet.

McDonald's has announced that they are going to start importing much of their beef from South America . The problem is that South Americans aren't under the same regulations as American beef producers, and the regulations they have are loosely controlled.

They can spray numerous pesticides on their pastures that have been banned here at home because of residues found in the beef. They can also use various hormones and growth regulators that we can't. The American public needs to be aware of this problem and that they may be putting themselves at risk from now on by eating at good old McDonald's..

American ranchers raise the highest quality beef in the world and this is what Americans deserve to eat.. Not beef from countries where quality is loosely controlled. Therefore, I am proposing a boycott of McDonald's until they see the light.

I'm sorry but everything is not always about the bottom line, and when it comes to jeopardizing my family's health, that is where I draw the line.

McDonalds has never been regarded as a good quality restaurant in Ireland, There Chicken sandwich (Witch I have eaten once). Was the furthest thing from good quality chicken I have ever seen. It didn't even taste Like chicken. I really try and aviod Mcdonalds, Burger King all the way LOL.

According to Snopes this is a mix of true and false information that has been circulating for quite a while especially via e-mail.

That said, I don't eat their burgers because they all have buns with seeds which make me sick. I do occassionally buy a plain burger for Sherman the cat. He is the kitty Haley rescued and rehomed to me. Sherman was dumped at a McDonald's in Michigan and was being fed by the employees. Once every 6 months or so he still loves to have a burger. Sherman will not eat Burger King, only McDonald's or home grilled.

Yuck! I don't eat beef :yuck. The only meat I will eat is chicken, in which Ryan and I are going to start getting free-range/all natural chicken.

What I will eat is some other meat here and there on a pizza, like pepperoni.

Yeah, sounds a bit dodgy.

McDee's in NZ are really high quality generally, when it comes to their meat. The'r burger patties are 100% NZ beef with a touch of salt and pepper, and it's always nice. Their chicken things (like wraps and salads) look and tastes like a bit of chicken you'd cook yourself at home.

A LOT of people here eat McDonalds, and we are a small nation, so if our cows can support our McDonalds I'm sure there is enough pasture in the US to do the same?

The grossest takeouts are Burgerking in Australia, they are rebranded Hungry Jacks or something like that, ugh - their bacon burgers, the bit of 'bacon' is like some processed churned up rubbery piece of flavourless mystery meat.

I would be surprised if it was a burger was 100% NZ beef, they have all these tricks to get around the rules. Still yum though!

Hungry Jacks is crap? I was always under the impression it was better than McDonalds which has always been my favourite.

Ahh. Yes you'll have seen the ads on t.v eh? Lets say nothing that is 100% beef would still look edible after 5yrs in a cupboard. The dietician at mums work has one and there is NO traces of mould or anything on it, she has a whole happy meal, with frys and the frys are still bright yellow and greasy to the touch :yuckI generally steer clear with McDee's unless i'm in town and need a feed and its the only thing open lol.

Eww isn't BK just gross in general lol. But KFC is def worst lol, their zinger burgers are the only good thing haha.

:shock::pi agree.....

real! chicken is better

Have you ever seen the "biggy size me" movie? after watching that you'll never want to eat McDonalds again- took me 2 years just to eat one.. of course, I'm too cheap to do fast food much

When I was in high school, the big thing was to say McDonald's got all their beef from South America, and that the countries were clear-cutting and burning the rainforest so we could eat cheap hamburgers.

For anyone interested in food, I highly recommend Michael Pollan's book The Omnivore's Dilemma. It was that book, even more than SuperSize Me, that really made me cut waaaaay back on fast food, and to pay a lot more attention to food ingredients in general. Don't get me wrong, I still get an occasional craving for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, and I like McD's french fries way more than anyone else's. But it's pretty rare now. After I learned more about what goes into their food, I stopped eating it for a long time, and then the next time I did get a burger there, it didn't taste very good.
And the chicken......There are 38 ingredients in a Chicken McNugget. (13 of which are corn derivitaves, and a few are completely synthetic chemicals made of petroleum.) Plus, they are sprayed with a preservative that is a suspected carcinogen.
Anyway, I recommend staying far away from those McNuggets!

Edited to add: The info about the McNuggets comes from The Omnivore's Dilemma.

I love Snopes! That Snopes article doesn't make me want to eat at McD's though. I haven't had a burger from there in probably 4 years, I think they're really gross. I haven't had chicken from there in about 2 years. When I was a kid, my mom would only let me order french fries when we went to McDonald's because I wouldn't eat the chicken nuggets or burgers... I vividly recall sitting in my seat glaring down at my Happy Meal while my brother played on the playground because my parents wouldn't let me play until I ate. I didn't know that about the chicken that BethM posted, makes me want to eat there even less.

When we eat fast food, I prefer getting a grilled chicken sandwich from Carl's Jr. There are several different ones to pick from and they're so good! Haven't had one since about September though...

In Ireland they say the beef is a 100% Irish too but I really doubt it, the thing I think is funny about eating burgers is you are eating bits of 100s of different cows, well it's not funny but you know, I only eat chicken though and hopefully I'll stop eating that too soon.
