Since everyone says they're so cheap I was wondering what stores I could get them at. I buy yesterdays news right now but I go through it so fast. Please list any stores you know of.

I was wondering the same thing after it was mentioned to me in another thread.

Apprently you can get them at Wallmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Home Hardware, Rona, and some feed stores.

Are there any particular brands that are ok? Or are all of the wood stove pellets ok? I know they have to be kiln dried to be safe for the bunnies.

I buy them locally at a hardware store/lumber yard. And since my parents picked them up I told them to make sure they were kiln dried. My parents asked and they were told all wood pellets are kiln dried, but I'm not sure if that is just how it happens to be here (or at that store) or what.

I buy Equine Pine from Tractor Supply, all it is is kiln dried pine pellets. I can get 40lbs for $5.99. I've been using it about 6 months and LOVE it. I was using Carefresh but it was getting way too expensive. I know a lot of people use wood stove pellets and they don't have any problems at all.

I'm paying that much for 30lbs of Woody Pet,a nd I love teh stuff, but it gets expensive with 33 rabbits to be cleaned out every couple of days. I saw at the store where I buy my feed that they sell either 40 or 50lb bags of the wood stove pellets for less than $4.

I've bought wood pellets from Fleet Farm. The brand was Marth and they were really cheap. I think 40 lb for about $5 or $6. I really hated the smell (of the pellets) though so I don't use them.

I got something called Animal and Reptile Pet Bedding, also by Marth, at Friends of Nature in Menomonee Falls. That is 40 lb for about $9. To be honest, I'm pretty sure it is the exact same product, just labeled differently. However, I don't notice a smell with the ped bedding. It's probably all in my mind if it's exactly the same :) I mix it with Yesterdays News. Anyway...that's where I go.

Thanks for the replies! I think lowes was the answer I was looking for. There's a lowes somewhere around here and a farm and fleet (fleet farm) near by. I'll check them out and see what they've got. I get a 30lb bag of YN for $15 and go through it in a week or so. The litter boxes I use are from pet smart and have a metal rack (don't know what to call it) in the litter box so they sit on it and the poop falls through so at least I don't have to worry about the bunnies eating it or anything!

I use Woody Pet :biggrin2:.

Igo to an Agway (aka: Southern State Corp) about 15 miles from me.
I buy 16 bags and store it in my garage on a pallet.
With 8 rabbits being changed every other day, it lasts me 3-4 months.

There's a Tractor Supply in Mukwonago.
....should be about 15 miles or so from you?

Give them a call and ask if they carry Woody Pet or some similar wood pellet bedding or litter.
It's used a lot for horse bedding.
You may have to talk to a couple of employees before someone knows what your asking for. Be patient ;)

30 pound bags usually cost $5 -$7.
Weight and cost may differ by brand.

NOTE!!! : Feline Pine, KayTee, and other pet store brands may cost considerably more.

Here's list of several brands you can use:

ABM (Advanced Bedding Management)
Dragon Mountain
Dry Den
Dry Stall
Equi-Litter
EquineFresh
Equine Pine
Feline Pine
Gentle Touch Products
Guardian Horse Bedding
J.P. McCrumb Woodshavings
Kaytee
Kentucky Komfort
Lone Star Bedding
Magnum Horse Products
Marth
Norstar Pellet Bedding
Pine Stall Horse Bedding
Pinnacle Pine Horse Bedding
Southern State
Woody Pet
Agway (their own brand)

Recently I got mine at Revy or Home Hardware. Home Depot doesn't carry wood pellets. They just don't carry the stock. :dunno

You can find wood pellets at pet shops, but they are very expensive. Its best to get it at the hardware stores.

Bump for LolaGirl. :bump

I just picked up3 bags of FireMaster Wood Pellets at Rona. A 40 pound bag costs $5.99 It goes along way when I only scoop out the wet waste instead of throwing out the entire contents. This is what my pellets look like. I keep it in a smaller box for convenience.

When I last needed them, my mom ended up having to go to some BBQ store or something. I think they were about $6 for a 40lb bag.

I saw an ad in the UFA flyer a couple of weeks ago, so they probably have some.

I have heard of them at hardware stores, but can never find them there.

There is a Rona really close. I go in fairly often, but can never find them. I don't think they have a full selection. I haven't been in latley, so they may have some now. I should go check at some point.

I'm really cheap so I use dried rabbit poop in the litter box. This way the kits don't get wet feet. I have 6 kits who are very good about peeing in the box but poops in and out of the box. The cage is 4'X2.5' and the litter box is an old refrigerator crisper bin.

I empty daily so there's not much odor. Next project is to try a little vinagar in the box to see if it decreases the odor.

Stan you are lucky their is a shortage of the Wood stove pellets here in ON. I buy them at Ronas. I heard that the place that produces them burnt down.

I've called about 10 stores none of them have them. Hopefully by the end if this week. I'm going to buy at least 10 bags.

Susan:)
