My cats have tapeworms!! I've never seen them before and it kind of freakedme out when I saw them in my cats poop! Do rabbits get worms like cats do?

I know they can get worms and you can get dewormer, not sure if they maybe use panacur for them.

one of the others can probably tell you more but i know that bunnies can get them. I think it can be sorted pretty easy though. Have a look in the infirmary on here i am sure there has beenn posts about worms before il go have a quick look for you

edit to add:

this was about pin worms but its more for the treatments for rabbits thats on there.

Panacur, ivermectin and Pamnock mentions another one.

I'm pretty sure that bunnies can get worms. But I think it's porably about the same treating them as it is with dogs or cats, but then I'm just guess.

I think that you should go to the vet, see if your bunn really does have worms, andif your bun does have worms the vet will give you an antibiotic that'll kill them.

Good luck,

-TK :)

Ivermectin and Panacur won't work for tapeworms in rabbits. You would have to get Drontal or another wormer for them.

Which kind of tapeworm do your cats have? The only kinds that rabbits can get is Taenia, not to mention it doesn't affect them like it does a cat. Rabbits are only intermediate hosts. In other words, the worm cannot reproduce in the rabbit. The rabbit only sheds the cysts and infects other animals. (Usually they have to be eaten for that to occur...wild rabbits serve as the intermediate host.)

Ummm, I don't know, I didn't know there was more than one kind of tape worm, I got praziquantel for the cats, it doesn't sound like the rabbits would need to be treated.
