Lately Pip has been snuggling under his blankets. He's not sick or anything, he's his usual self, and it's not cold in my room, but every time I come home he's snuggled under his blanket. Sometimes it's just his head, maybe to block out the light or something so he can sleep, but he'll usually stay under my bed and sleep during the day. I'm not worried about it, I think it's the cutest thing in the world especially when he hops up on my bed at night and wiggles under the covers with me so only his nose is peeking out. I was just wondering if anyone else's bunnies like to be covered up.

aww how cute is that?!

Ive never seen a bunny do that. My Basil will stay under the covers if I cover him up myself, but he wont go under there on his own.

My guess is he feels safe and secure under there. So cute!

Bo likes to snuggle into a blanket he has fluffed, but Clover well.........

we just say "THERE-IS-NO-CWOVERBUNNY" when she's doing this:

Here is just one foot and a tail showing....

Is that a bunny nose?

The best part is that when she's completely under her baby blanket, she doesn't know we can see her and we can actually reach in and pet her or pick her up sometimes to do her toenails and stuff. She gets this look like "HOW ON EARTH DID YOU FIND ME?!" :p

When I was a teenager one of my first rabbits (Thumper) used to sleep with me in my bed every night. I'd put her under the covers and she'd stay there for an hour or so, then she'd emerge and spend the rest of the night stretched out across the pillow, like a warm and fuzzy head comforter created just for me. :)

But she never went under the covers of her own volition; only if I put her there. Your bunny is pretty amazing, and adorable!! :inlove:

I wish my bunnies could sleep with me. They'd pee on everything tho. Bo gets so snuggly sometimes I nearly fall asleep holding him. Heidi stretches out on me as long as she can get!

I have digging blankets and sheets on the floor of Nibbles' pen, and she loves to tunnel around under them. Sometimes she'll take little naps underneath.

You've gotta figure that burrowing is part of their basic makeup - and I guess if you don't have dirt to dig into, you have to find acceptable substitutes. :)

Maybe that's why Cloverbunny does it more so than Bo?! She is a cottontail so it's more in her nature to be burrowing!

That's interesting now that you bring it up - makes sense!

currently - there is NO cwoverbunny! LOL!

But Cloverbunny is an Eastern cottontail, right?

I was thinking of the fact that our domestic rabbits are descended from European wild rabbits - they create very extensive tunnels and burrows. (Like in Watership Down.)

I bet Randy could tell us more about N. American wild rabbit behavior....

Yes she is. They do create burrows but I don't think they are as extensive as that.

It's still an interesting thought. I also didn't connect that with Bo's constant digging/fluffing behavior.

That's so adorable!! My bunny never does anything like that. In fact, she doesn't seem to like napping/laying/sleeping on soft things. She'd rather lay on something cool and hard. Weirdo.

I gave them a blanket once but they couldn't really figure how to get under the blanket and when they give up they'll pee on it. :grumpy:

Recently when I carry them, they'll scratch me. I don't know what's up with that but my guess is that he wants to pee, so I just put him back in the potty and he pees. :)

Anyone encountered this before?

Nibbles is a nut - I gave her a shoebox last year (lid and box are all one piece, lid folds down) and sometimes she hides inside it, with the lid down, and shreds it a bit while she's in there. I've also caught her napping in it. Go figure!

Peter is a complete control freak and will hop up on the bed and keep me company or check to see if I'm dead, LOL, but by golly it's on his terms. His brother, Bugs, though, he's fine with being picked up and snuggled with, but he won't hop up on his own. Go figure.:p

I think certain animals have certain personalities.

My mom rescued a baby chipmunk (her eyes weren't even open! she was crawling on the road when mom saw her!) several years ago. She kept her for a long time - she lived 7 years!!! that's long for a munk! but anyhow - she had blankies and got in them. It was funny to watch her! she'd get under one and then pull the edges in as if to tuck herself in for the "day" lol!

He's a mini lop, about 6-7 months old. He doesn't sleep with me every night. Last night he was very snuggly and I had the blanket too tight and he couldn't get under it so he sat there trying to dig through the covers until I loosened them. After he's had his fill of snuggling he'll usually crawl across the pillow, lick me a bit, and then jump down to stretch out on the floor or chew on his cardboard box. Then as soon as I wake up he's circling my feet and trying to crawl up my leg to get his morning slice of dried apple. He's such a goof!

in the wild, rabbits live in burrows and by nature, rabbits love to dig and tunnel under things. my bunny loves to burrow under his blankie and dig and chew and make himself a burrow type next in it. i think what your bunny is doing is totally normal and VERY cute. as long as there haven't been any symptoms of sickness ie, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, sleeping more than usual, not eating or drinking, abnormal toilet habits, etc, then your bun is just being a normalbun:)
