I heard that one of a senior rabbit's favorites was clover hay. We have a bunch of clovers out in the horse pasture, so do I make it like catnip? Pick it and hang it upside-down in full sun until it dries?

I don't know. That's why I wanted to make my own so I didn't waste my money. I do know that my rabbits love clovers!:)

I do know that if clover hay is rained on and not completely dry again before it is baled, it does mold much faster and easier than other day. It seems to be a much thicker plant. I would think that you could cut the clover and hang it to dry.

Clover is for cows -- don't try to dry clover hay yourself due to the dangers of mold toxins and a compound called Dicumarol (a vitamin K inhibitor) that can cause fatal hemorrhaging. More information on clover mold toxins can be found in the 8th edition of Rabbit Production. I highly recommend this book to you Akkatia.

Okay, I'll have to go to the library!

What do you think about going out to the field and picking plain clovers and giving them that?
