I'm worried I might have a couple of pregnant bunnies. :(

Somehow in the past 18 hours, the boy bunnies managed to move the onepiece of wood that had been separating them from the girls. When we entered my apartment today we found all the bunnies covortingin the lower part of the cage. With how Franky and Buddy havebeen acting there is no doubt in my mind that there was somehanky-panky going on.

Now I'm hoping that female bunnies won't get pregnant every time theymate. The only other factor that might be in my favor istemperature. It's been getting somewhat warm as I've beenbattling with a less than perfect AC system. A couple of daysthe temp got up to 85 and it's often been around 80-81.Hopefully it's been warm enough to keep them sterile.

I don't know if there is anything I can do at this point except praythat we aren't suddenly going to triple the number of bunnies here.

Uh oh. Any chance you can get thegirls to a vet to check? How old are they now? Theymight be old enough for emergency spays.

Rabbits don't ovulate on a cycle like humans, they ovulate when theymate. It makes it more likely that a single breeding resultsin pregnant buns. So I'd definately check it out.Hopefully they aren't!

How soon does this have to be?Probably at this hour the vets have closed and last time I checked theyonly had walkins at earlier hours. :( Also we're gonna haveto see about getting Care Credit because I don't have the money toafford spays now after Cala cost me $230 this month with her gasproblem. Problem there is we are gonna need my gf's SS#because last time I applied my credit wasn't good enough to get it onmy own.

I've just finished calling at the vets that Iknow in my area and no one does emergency spays, no one can do a spaytill next week, and even the Emergency Clinic will not do an emergencyspay unless the animal is injured.

Also I dunno how effective a spay is since last I heard a female rabbitcan still get pregnant several weeks after beingspayed.

ohh noo,i will be praying for you that you dontend up with little baby bunnies, this is what happened to me and i justhad to keepthe babies,i could not part with them.

also a female bunny that is spayed cannot get pregnant

You're thinking of boys and neuters. Spaying removes theuterus and ovaries, so there's nothing to get pregnant with.;)

Emergency spay is just a term- it doesn't have to be today, just beforethe kits are born. I've heard of rabbits getting spayed whenthey were three weeks pregnant.

From what I can tell, Care Credit is a good program if you pay back on their schedule.

How old are the girls now?

Yeah, it seems we are gonna get morebunnies. We were just discussing what we would do if we dohave babies since I don't know if I really have the capabilities/roomto take care of so many. Even if we could give them away, Idon't know if we would have grown too attached to them by that timethat they could be given away and the only person I would trust them toaround here is Peg.

Hmmm that sounds promising, and yeah I got confused and switchedneutering and spaying. They will be exactly 5 months nextweek so they are old enough to get spayed.

I'll have to see about getting them scheduled for spays soon then.

Sorry to break it to you, but you should assumethey are pregnant. I've bred rabbits in 90 degree whether and havenever had problems so temps don't always affect the bucks. better callthat vet, or buy lots of cages, because in the time you were gone, ALOT of hanky panky could of happen resulting in A LOT of ovulation.

:nonono:naughty rabbits.

I used to breed year around, and it got in the90's during the summer. I would go under the assumption thatthey are pregnant. This emergency spay sounds an awful lotlike an abortion in humans.

please try your hardest to do the emergencyspay.. call every vet in town, one of them is bound to do it. the lastthing this world needs are 2 more unwanted bunny litters.
