During the past few weeks, I've come to notice that Emmy has been 'bumming' around lately. Meaning, she just kinds of sits there scratching the floor, sniffing, going up and down the stairs, and kind of peeks through doors and such. I've asked my mom if we can stop by Petsmart tomorrow or so too see if there are any fun toys we can pick-up for Emmy..

Any suggestions? :embarrassed:

The things that get my buns moving are newhidey-boxes, and boxes or paper towel rolls stuffed with hay. They also like noisy toys, and two of them like this huge (almost thesize of Mocha or Sprite) plastic ball with a plastic jingle ballinside. I've never seen too much at Petsmart that they likeaside from the jingle bell cat toys.

We have those ABC wooden blocks, but she rarelyplays with `em. We've made a maze out of card-board boxes, but she torethem down, and we gave those stuffed-hay paper towel roll things, butshe just poured the contents out of the tube.

To me, I think she is one tough-cookie.:ponder:

Maybe yet... we haven't done enough fun things for her to enjoy? I'm kind of feeling guilty now. :?

My bunnies have one of these, and they absolutely LOVE it. It's made by Super Pet.

A lot of people give their bunnies those toykeys on a ring that are made for human babies - many rabbits love totoss things around and their design seems perfect for that type ofplay. I guess it all depends on the rabbit though...my guy has refusedto play with every toy I've ever purchased for him. The only thing I'veseen him show the slightest interest in is a plastic yogurt containerthat I had put in his cage one evening to hold his veggies. He begantossing it around the next day when it was empty, and now he does seemto enjoy it just for that...

Just a thought, but bunnies aren't that active during the dayb/c they are crepscular animals (most active during dawn and dusk) soit would seem pretty normal to me that your bunny is inactive most ofthe day... unless you know that this is unusual for her then youshould definitely be watching her to make sure thereisn'tanunderlying progression of illness... That being said...Toys are an excellent form of exercise when they "play" withthem...I woulddefinitely recommend having many thingsavailablefor your bunny to keep mentallystimulated.

My Opie has TONS of toys but prefers to lounge around all day (what agreat life huh?) usually under the futon or diningtable (probably b/cits kinda dark and enclosed to keep her safe). Opie has freerun of my livingroom, diningroom and kitchen.Onecorner of my apt is just her toy area.

Here are a couple suggestions for toys for your bunny: baby key rings, most baby toys, empty paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, golf balls, slinky, stuffed animals (unless your bunny is a bigchewer), commerical rabbit chew toys, willow balls, old phone books, box filled with shredded newspaper, sea grass mats, wood blocks... (toname a few of the things that Opie has!) You'd be surprisedat the things you can find around the house that could be considered atoy for your bunny. Many of the baby toys I buy are from the$1 store! Store bought doesn't nessarily mean expensive.

She's a very spoiled bunny. Can you tell?

of course she chooses the cheapest toy - an empty paper towel tube...go figure!

Hope that helps!

Maybe she is lonely. Could you getanother bun to keep her company? I have kept bunieson their own and in pairs and I think they are happier in pairs. Ifthey are bored or no one else is homethey can play a gametogether. Mine take turns chasing each other. Ofcourse it depends what age your rabbit is and how easily you think shecould accept another bun, it depends on theirpersonality. Mind you, it would depend if your momwould agree. When I lived at home mine was always trying to limit mypet accumulation!

My rabbits love a football to play with, they push it round thefloor. Also I get these wicker balls which they can chew upand they love that. I get them from pets at home which Idon't know if you have in US? But petsmart probably sells anequivalent. Also I got this mat made out of sort of grassstuff woven together and they loved it because they could dig on ituntil it all fell apart.

Have you made any changes in the house recently, it sounds like she isa bit nervous about something. Animals can be very sensitive to evenlittle changes in their familiar environment

We took out the Christmas decorations, and Emmywould always 'chill' beneath the ornaments. Katy also re-arranged ourbedrooom alittle by njust placing two side shelves side-by-side. ALSO,Katy, my dad and I are gonna repaint our room today or so, do you thinkthis'll stress her out? :?

Another bun to keep her company? Ehh, I wouldn't think that would workwith my Mom, she's very strict on pets in the house. However, myparents are planning to get my 6-year old brother a hamster or agerbil, would that occupy her? (IF my parents get one of em for mybrother)

If it's like Fuzznugget (RIP), then yes. I would put him inhis ball and let him run around. I wouldn't trust the rabbitswith him if he was just loose on a chair or something.Rabbits are so much bigger, they could hurt him without meaningto. But he loved to run towards movement, the sillything. He'd run straight at my legs or at their rear ends, and crash into them. :run:

Bunnyslave - is there a RABBIT in those pictures you posted?!? I can't see any with all of the TOYS!!;)
My buns have tons of toys - mostly all the ones that have beenmentioned. Recently I gave them some small, flat thin pieces of pinewood (untreated) to chew on. I picked them up in Home Depot (scraps).
They just love chewing on them, and they carry them around with them too, which is kind of cute to see.
If one has one, the other goes looking for the other piece, or tries to steal it away.
They are like little kids...

*giggling*

didn't i say Opie was spoiled? and thats not all her toys... she has lots more all over the apt.

wood scraps huh? what a good idea! *adding to my home depot shopping list*

I would have to say towels, paper bags andtubes. Buns love towels. My rabbit Faye has about7towels, 2 plush blankets, paper bags, and a fake sheepskindog bed (under my bed). She Loves it (I call ither cave). All night she goes to town making sure everythinglooks perfect. The thing about towels is they can do anythingwith them ( they could bemonsters, friends, digsites, the list goes on and on). So atthe same time are little buns are getting a physical workout,it also becomes a mental workoutas well:). Towelsdo get dirty so I would wash themat least once a week (ifunder a bed). There are lots of toys out there but Ithink you'll find the ones you make work out the best.

P.S.I think you would lovetheHOUSE RABBIT HANDBOOK (How to live with an UrbanRabbit) by Marinell Harriman. It is a gold mine ofinformation and so much fun to read (over and over)

Have Fun

Peter & Faye

Lots of great suggestions up there. I have toadd that my bunnies favorite toys are the willow ball (available fromPier One or any craft store) and an empty playing card box!

My fav are the interlocking rings made for babies.

There're great for hanging and then you can attach things to them like other toys or paper tubes.

...or just connect a few together for a toss toy...they also make goodreplacement for when the buns chew through the ring that holds the babykeys together

I also use them to attach the litter pans to the sides of the cage. ;)

JimD you really get your money's worth with those rings!
It's funny, but I recognize those rings from when I was setting up anAlzhiemers Unit. They were one of the recommended 'toys' to helpstimulate and maintain small motor co-ordination.
I guess they work the same way for rabbits - except it's their 'mouth' co-ordination you stimulate with them!

Yes I did see Buck there! He is still so much apart of this forum, isn't he? I was praying to him with all the turmoilwe were having here a few weeks back.
I think he still is watching over us!

I like getting little plastic cat toy balls.Whisper loves his Chube. The chube is about 1/4 of what it used to be,so it gets stuck on his stomach when he flies through :inlove:

They also love wooden bird toys. I have one that is about five woodenboxes with holes in the middle and are linked like a chain. They makegood chew toys too.
