hi, i just got a bunny today :D and all he keepsdoing is biting the spout to the waterbottle. How do i knowif the height is right for him? I tried adjusting it but he stillcontinues to bite it for minutes. He's not drinking, he'sjust biting the metal spout. Is this normal? Ibought a salt ring for him to file his teeth on but he won't even lookat it.

My bun rarely licks his salt lick, but he doeslick it occasionally, because I can see the beginning of a littlegroove around the middle where it is thinner. I would leaveit in there for your bunny.

As far as the water bottle, if it were me, I would try to lower/raiseit a bit and see how he responds. I would also try a bowl with water -maybe he would be more comfortable drinking from a dish... But there isa chance that it is just boredom or agression or something. My bunlikes to rearrange things whenever I set his cage up for him.Maybe he just wants to move it.

But most importantly, check that the water flows when you press on themetal ball, and keep tabs on the water level and make sure he isdrinking. If he's not, I would say the crock of water might be hispreference.

you just got a bunny today? Congrats.

i think your bun is trying to figure the bottle thingy out. When Kweliwas a babe she did the same thing. When your bun is drinking give thebottle a little squeeze, that may help. also flick the ball to makesure water is indeed coming out.

hmm the bunny was drinking from a water bottlebefore i bought him so i THINK that it's just agression and gettingused to the new environment. I think i'm expecting too muchlove from him too soon! The water level has gone down so heis drinking, but the constant gnawing on the metal spout drives meinsane!

thanks for all your input!

Do you have any wood blocks or sticks in therefor him to chew on? Could just be he's trying to chew and that's theonly thing he can find.

sunny does the same thing while drinking from her bottle. It's just her way, I guess. I've never really worried about it.

LOL, if *that's* driving you insane.....Oh boy! You have a lot "worse"to look forward to!:runningrabbit::nonono::run::disgust::happyrabbit::scared::tantrum::bunnybutt::happybunny:

my rabbit doesnt do that but my hamsters didespecially when they had their rotastak bottles, when they have theirnormal big ones they don't do it - no idea why but i dont let them havethe small rotastak ones now as when they chewed them they also emptiedthem all over themselves

I have a bunny who does that, and sometimes heknocks the bottle down.. So keep a eye out that his bottle stays inplace... No water for a bunny is bad.. But I am sure you know that... Itell Roger to leave it alone. silly bunny needs water. :nonono:

My Al is the only one that bites on the waterbottle spout. He has always done it. I think he isjust entertaining himself.

My lop bites the spout of the water bottle. Itusually means she is bored and saying "Let me out!" As she only does itif she can see you through her cage bars.

I wouldnt really worry about it :D

Wait till he learns to push the empty bottle out onto the floor....oh the joys of rabbit parenting!

Actually - congrats on your new bunny and welcome to "slavehood". You'll love it.

Mine would bite at the water bottle to try toget the water to flow faster. They all prefer bowls becausethey're easier to drink from. Actually, Mocha can't have awater bottle as she gets frustrated and quickly gives up on drinkingfrom it.

Devon tends to bite the water bottle too. Hestill seems to get plenty of water, though. It has become almost a gamefor him. He will drink and then bite and then drink again.

Hi everyone! THANKS for all your feedback! I'vehad my bunny (Rupert is his name) for about a week and a half now andhe still bites the bottle. I think that he generally reallydoesn't like it. Whenever i put a bowl of water in his cagehe runs straight for it and drinks and drinks and drinks till his wholemouth and cheecks are wet!

On another note.......he picked up potty training fast! He only goes inhis litter box (a pyrex dish that i took from my mom....kekekekekeke)

peapoo only chews on her waterbottle at night..iguess she gets bored in her cage, because she doesnt do it during theday when she can run around... peapoo didnt pay any attention to hersalt lick when i first got her, but now both the one upstairs anddownstairs are almost gone...she licks them all the time
