Hello, as some of you read in my thread, Busterand Tucker SOME HOW managed to get into the same cage Christmas dayevening, while we were at my dads for dinner.

I checked them over, but as you all know rabbits are excellent athiding their wounds. I noticed this morning he was licking one area inparticular. I scooped him up, and he does happen to have a bite wound. It doesn't really look bad to me. More hair missing than anything....

I was wondering if there was something I could do to keep it clean. Anysuggestions are welcome, as you know tomorrow is a holiday, so no vet,and no stores.... I tried calling my vet today, and they're closed...

any help?!?!?!?!?

:monkey:mum!

If youcan, shave the area so you canget a proper look at the skin. Its hard to do with all the fur in theway. And if they jump a BICdisposible razor wont do any harm.

I am sure you have seen what an infected wound looks like before. Theactual wound should look crusted over by now and a little yellow crustis normal. Pay close attention to the skin around the bite. What coloris it? healthy skin should look pink and look "moist".

If infected and getting larger, the skin around the wound will bediscolored. Sometimes white or yellow. Green or dark in severe casesand it will be very dry and brittle regardless. Also the wound itselfwill look pussy and gross.

Also does it look more like an abrasion, or an actual flesh wound b/cthen it would be more difficult to observe an internal infection.

You can originally clean it with some peroxide or saline solution (thatstings a little more though) and you can put a think layer of neosporinor polysporin until you can get to your vet.

How's he eating? Still okay?? All observationsto tellthe doc...

Hope everything goes alright, I am sure he will be fine ! :cool:Happy New Year!

thanks for that quick reply!

After reading what you wrote, he's FINE! It's pink, and moist, and theskin looks as though it was just a scrape or something like that.

I'm not concerened really with it anymore, he seems fine. No yellow, crusties, or green goupy stuff. He's eating, and pooping, ang hoppingjust like the little Monkey Man does normally.

Again, thanks, and sorry, I just panniked I think, pregnancy hormones, sometimes they get the better of me....
