How long per day do you guys have your buns out?

Since it's wintertime, I've had to bring Raphindoors. And since he isn't housebroken, he has to stay downstairs inthe basement when I'm not at home. I did have him in my dog's crate atfirst, but it's far too confining for him, so a while ago I constructeda pen. Now his crate is open all the time, and Raph gets free access tohis pen...which is roughly 12-15 feet by about 10 feet. He's down thereby himself though, for now...so whenever I'm home he does come upstairswith the rest of the gang. He now wears slipper socks so he canmaneuver the hardwood floors, and I guess he's with us for roughly 3hours or so every evening, and during the weekends it's muchlonger...most of the day for the most part.

Are the slipper socks specifically for bunnies?What are they exactly? We have a lot of hardwood floors, and most of mybuns dislike them, so if there's something that they could wear to helpthem nagivate, that would be awesome...

2-3 hours a day...on the weekends he might getto stay out most of the day since i have more time to watch him. but healso has a big cage so that he can run and jump freely so he is alwaysgetting exercise and play time.

Emma lves cage free in her and the babies room.

Buster and Tucker each get 6hrs a day free time. Tucks gets 8am-2pm, and Buster gets 2pm-8pm.

Tucker is a morning bunny, all hyper and crazy, while Buster sleeps late. So it works out real well this way...

Raph is a 'special-needs' bunny...he has a defect in both his hindlegs. The joints can slip out of place very easily, so slipperysurfaces can be very stressful to his legs. So a week or so ago Idecided to experiment and made him a pair of slipper-socks to see ifthey would make a difference (otherwise, he'd be very restricted in theareas of the house he could hop about in). So far they seem to behelping him a lot. While he does get annoyed with them and will tug andattempt to chew them off, he has yet to do any real damage to them. Andthey give him just enough traction to be able to keep his feet underhim.

I have no idea if it would work with other rabbits or not...actually Imade them without getting my hopes up, thinking they might not last anhour, but was pleasantly surprised with the success I've had with his.You could give it a try if you wanted...actually I'd be curious to seeif it would work on other rabbits. All I did was purchase somechildrens' socks, and I bought some rubber shelf liner and strips ofvelcro. I cut the liner to the size and shape of Raph's hind feet andsewed them in place, then attached velcro strips to hold them in place.And that's all there was to it. If you do give it a try, let me knowhow it turns out!

12pm-6pm Outdoor hutch, depending on weather

6pm-8pm Supervised play in back and front yards

8pm-12am My room

12pm- Back to his indoor cage

Bassetluv - I would definitely like to try tomake a pair of those to see how my buns take to them. Please do post apicture of them when you can (visual aids help!). one thing I wasuncertain of in your description - rubber shelf liner -- is that likecontact paper used to line kitchen cupboards? Or something elsecompletely?

The rubber shelf liner is a sheet of 'webbed' rubber that some peopleput in their cupboards. It's not like contact paper; I think it's moresimilar to those smaller sheets of rubbery material that grocery storessometimes sell...I don't know what they're called, but they're sold asaids to help in opening lids on jars. I just grabbed the first thing Icould find that looked like it would work, and that was the shelfliner...picked it up in a dollar store.

I have no idea if this is a Canadian product or American...I justassumed that it was available in both countries. If you have problemslocating anything to use let me know and I could mail some of it to youif you wish. (btw, it's a bit tricky to sew on since it's a mesh, butso far with Raph's it seems to be working.) If I find anything betterI'll let you know. And I'll definitely post a pic of Raphie with hissocks on (just have to remember to get the camera from my son).

I let my bunnies out when I'm home from work andkeep them back when my dad is about to reach home, otherwsie his carmight run over them, lol. They have their run time in my driveway andgarden. So that makes about 2 hours run time on weekdays and around 5hours on weekends
