So my holland lop mixed mini lop doe gave birth to 6 kits, 1 that was a stillborn fetal giant (2-3x the size of the others) and the rest (5) lived. This kit (which I guess I’ll temporarily name Tiny bc not sure if it’s boy or girl) was a bit smaller but almost the same size of the rest of the litter when tiny was born. I’ve noticed that he looks skinnier/bonier than the rest of the litter (I’ve been feeding him alone to the moms milk 2-4x a day) and I feel like he hasn’t grown much at all since he was born. All of the kits can hear already except for tiny (hasn’t opened his ear canal yet). He drinks the same amount of milk as the rest but doesn’t get that “full stomach” look when he’s done and still looks a little skinny. He has lots of energy and doesn’t seem weak to me. The dad is a netherland dwarf lionhead mix so I’m scared that tiny might be a peanut. Below I’ll post a couple of pictures showing all angles of Tiny.

Doesn't look like a peanut to me, but certainly could have something going on affecting growth. Being active is a good sign though. All you can really do is make sure the kit is nursing from mom and keeps warm snuggled up in the nest with it's siblings.

Thanks!! That’s kinda sort of a relief and hoping that’s what it is. This is my first time experiencing this so I’m not sure what the signs could be of a peanut. What is it that you see that tiny doesn’t have that would make him a peanut?

Peanuts are born significantly smaller from the start. You said yours was about the same size when born(and looks to be in the photos). Peanuts have a dome shaped head and really tiny pointed ears set further back on the head. Compared to his sibling, your kits head and ears look normal to me, just smaller. Peanuts will also usually have underdeveloped hindquarters where the hind legs may be crossed and not function very well. A peanut may also act more lethargic than normal kits.

Here's an old thread where you can see what a peanut looks like.

To me yours looks like a runt. Now that's not saying there might not be some sort of health issue going on that's causing his slower growth rate compared to the other kits. And is actually pretty likely, considering he started out about the same size but is significantly smaller than his siblings now.

Thank you!! I feel much better now :’) hoping he really is a runt!!

Hello, I opened a new thread, but nobody answered me. I think you all have an experience with peanuts.
My new babies are 4 days old Holland lops. How do you think, is this little one a peanut? His belly skin is wrinkled, his ears are small. I'm trying to feed him, but I don't know if there's any point in continuing to fight. And I am not sure 100% if he really is a peanut. Could you help me?

Looks like a runt to me. Very cute!
Thank you for an answer. I was loosing hope and motivation to fight. Because the difference was every day bigger and bigger. For me, he is the same during his littermates are growing. Today I saw Orange fur on his body. What is the best way to take care of him now? I am feeding him by a bottle- kittens milk.
