Rabbit biting and lifting run bars

I have an indoor rabbit. She has a cage which is always open and marked off half of your lounge for her to free roam but she bites and lifts up the bars we use. Any suggestions to stop this? She likes to chew wires hense why she cannot run around the house.

I boxed in all the wires in the family room--that worked well til Nancy left the computer chair out from the desk and Coal chewed the wires for the sound system, twice.

Biting bars can cause dental problems. Your best bet is to bunny proof the room and get rid of the cage. You can block access to wires with furniture or use wire covers.

Our bunny did that and then I bought a hanging chew bar and he doesn’t do it any more. Also apple twigs are a favourite.

To prevent biting on the bars, cardboard or posterboard can be ziptied to the panels to prevent biting. The cardboard/posterboard may need occassional replacing when it gets chewed at though. And you do have to make sure bun is just ripping it up and not actually consuming large amounts(health risk). A more permanent chew proof option is clear plastic paneling or wire mesh. Though wire mesh can be a pain, and you have to get rid of the sharp edges.
