My flooring is made of tiles and my bun prefers them over the rugs and blankets (soft fleece) laid out for her. She rarely walks, runs on them and would often "fold" them if she thinks they are covering the tiles too much. So far, i very rarely see her slip, trip and fall on the tiles, no sore hocks as well. The fur on her feet are very long, fluffy, unmatted

Mine too, although it's not tiles but slick vinyl flooring on cold ground - they prefer that and even seek out the coolest spots in the house.

In winter, when I have 10-14°C in my rooms they sometimes do use the rug under the kitchen table, but i have to put fresh tree branches close to keep Dotty from tearing up the rug.

If you're talking about laying down, then, yeah, many rabbits like to lay on cooler surfaces. But it's different if you're talking about walking about, which I think is what you are meaning.

If the rugs/blankets can be "folded" by her, then they are likely slippery on the tile. No wonder she avoids them. A blanket that can slip about on the tile floor is probably more slippery than the tile itself.

I've had rabbits that could walk just fine on tile (and others who wouldn't step on it). But even the rabbits that can walk on it have no real way to zoom about on it. Those furry paws make it too slick for any real traction.

Perhaps you could consider getting some type of decent size area rug that cannot slide on the tile (with some type of rubber or traction on the underside that holds it in place). This would at least allow the opportunity for zoomies.

Thank you for the reply! I realised i didn't specify much so apologies for it

She really enjoys chewing on rubber so i was pretty much forced to store away anything that has rubber after witnessing the floor covered in rubber bits (she ingested some but luckily no GI stasis). She had a non-slip decent-sized rubber backed rug and mainly used it for chewing (stubbornly on the tiles) instead of zooming. The rugs and blankets that she has right now can't really slide

She'd slowly tug at and pull them towards her while she's on them until they're kinda folded (5-15 mins, she'd usually zoom/binky on the tiles when i catch her in or after the act). I might get her a mattress/futon (or let her have mine) since she really enjoys how bouncy it is (happy hops and zooms) or just sew some weights into the rugs (thought of this right now)

I recently got her an anti-slip rabbit mat, i'm going to add it in soon after its washed and wiped dry, i'll probs have to walk on it a lot if she doesn't feel like using it

She does a lot of things that most rabbits don't do so i'm often stumped by her, really an oddball

Some rabbits certainly have strange preferences. All we can do is cater to their every whim, just like the good bunny 'servants' that we are :p
Haha I laughed out loud reading this. Being a new bunny owner for about 2 months now of two sweet teenage rabbit brothers… I relate to the very quick progression into catering to every whim and quirk which at this age also seems to ever change from one day to the next like typical adolescents. So glad it’s not just me!
