My bunnies have this problem too and I've taken them to the vet to get them medicine. My vet treated them both with Revolution (selamectin). I would recommend taking them to the vet it you believe that it's fur mites because there aren't many at-home remedies or medicine that you can buy without a vet prescription. There is a spray from Small Pet Select called Pestavert that can help prevent fur mites (Pestavert Spray). I use this on my rabbits once a week when I have to groom them! But this is not a substitution for taking them to the vet.

By the way, there is no bald spots I could find on her body. And also, I don't fond dander from my other rabbits

Dandruff is most often caused by fur mites. If you have Xeno 450 spot on in Canada, it may be otc and can be used to treat mites on rabbits. Though do be aware that some breeds and types of rabbits(ones with dutcn genetics, vienna carriers, BEW, etc) can have a sensitivity to ivermectin, which can cause a toxic reaction.

The safer option, and if you don't have Xeno 450 there, is Revolution, but it usually requires a prescription from your vet.

Thank you so much. I will search Xeno450. The concern to me to go vet is I may have to get enough subscriptions for enough amount of medicine to treat all my rabbits.

Didn't find anything related. In Canada, nothing chemicals can be purchased publicly. But I found it in China. Will ask someone ship to me.
There some types of this medicine: liquid, powder and pills. Which do you suggested?

Our bun had dander and we took him to the vet, he checked with a microscope and found no mites. We took him back a couple weeks later, still no mites. We changed his food and his "Dandruff" was gone in a month or so (it looked just like your pic). He's a giant breed and eats so much we were buying 50lb bags of manna pro select. We changed to manna sho and his fur and skin were transformed, which made him soooo much happier, no more itching and scratching, just happy binks and flops :] It may be possible to buy a small l.e.d. microscope on amazon and check your bunnies skin (if you can't make it to the vet), we got one for cheap and I check his skin weekly now, lol. There are some writings online to help with what magnification and looking for mites.

That's a great idea! Buying a microscope and do my own vet. It may be less expensive than a vet visit, not mention I can repeat using the microscope for long time, even my son can use it for experiments.

I wouldn't recommend getting a mite treatment from China. There's no way to know if it's the real thing, the right thing, or if some harmful chemical could be in it.

That's good to know. It's not common for rabbits to have food allergies, and those causing a skin condition, but obviously it can happen, as your rabbit is proof. I compared the ingredients in those feeds. The main difference is that the 'select' feeds first ingredient is wheat middlings; and the 'shows' first ingredient is alfalfa, but also has probiotics. Maybe your rabbit was sensitive to too much wheat, or maybe the probiotics helped.

Well, I don't have choice. Canada doesn't have any chemicals for sale. Nothing about animal drugs for sale without prescription. Vet is good for one or two rabbits, but not for many of them. China has ivermectin for animals for sale. I believe I will buy water soluble powder type for a large pack and try one rabbit first.

Hei! Since I bought this Netherland Drwaf from a registered breeder 1.5 hour away from my location, I got so much trouble. She is here taking my cage and do nothing butà⁹ numerous problems.

The story is that I call the breeder to buy a male baby within four kits of a litter from her. I asked her to keep all for 2 hour for me to chose one from. She give me address, and I drove there. On half way, she called me and told me she already reserved a male baby for some other buyer. I said I already drove half way, and let her just keep a darkest male among three for me. She said ok, but said the address is some meetup location of a fast food store. I should have realize that is too tricky and refuse to go there, because I already have some poor experiences of buying something from someone not giving home address to me. Since she is a registered breeder, I chose to trust her, and still drove there to meet at the store. To my surprise, she brought all four kits for me to choose. This is another bad sign that I should quit but I didn't. I picked the darkest one and she said this is a male for sure. Again I trusted her as registered breeder would not make a mistake for sexing a 7 weeks old bunny, otherwise I would do my own. So I chose to have name FRANK on the pedigree. When I drove another 1.5 hour back to home, I found he was she. Soon later, I found she has eye discharge, I gave antibiotic eye drops, she is still sometimes good and sometimes bad. As she grows, I found she sometimes had problems for balance. Now I found she may have fur mites. This is not the experience that I have with my other rabbits.
Believe me or not, never buy anything from one doesn't want give you his/her home address without a solid proper reason.

Actually, it's pretty common for even the most experienced rabbit breeder(or even vet) to sometimes mistake the sex of a rabbit. Until the rabbit becomes more mature where the testicles can drop, at around 3-4 months old, it can be extremely difficult to tell on some of those baby rabbits. Someone wanting to meet up at a neutral location, is pretty common as well, at least it is here in the US. I would never give my home address to anyone I was meeting to sell something to. It's just not a safe thing to do any more.

This rabbit sounds like there's a lot more going on then s simple skin condition. With losing balance and showing signs of possible vestibular disease, plus reoccurring eye discharge, she could have more serious health problems going on, and the skin condition is just from her immune system being weakened.

Possible causes for loss of balance are head trauma, inner/middle ear infection, possibly ear mites(depending on the severity of the balance issues), toxins, mass or head abscess, toxoplasmosis, or there are parasites like e. cuniculi or roundworm. In kits, it can even be due to a vitamin A deficiency/toxicity, though in these cases the neurological damage is permanent and most kits don't survive past 2 weeks, or sometimes 8 weeks old.

https://www.petmd.com/rabbit/condit... disease is,signs due to bacterial infection.
It would still be my advice to have this rabbit checked out by a knowledgeable rabbit vet, for the balance and eye infection problems if nothing else. It may not be that you need to have your whole herd treated for fur mites anyways. The skin condition is likely only connected to a weakened immune system from the other health issues going on, and especially since you aren't seeing any other signs of skin issues in your other rabbits, it's probably just this one rabbit that needs treatment, for the multiple issues going on with her. With any luck, it could just be ear mites causing the lack of balance, and a simple mite treatment will take care of this and the dandruff that could be from fur mites. And the eye issue is just a separate problem.

If you are going to go ahead and treat your whole herd for mites anyways, if your farm stores are like ours here in the US, they sell ivermectin as a 1% injectable(10mg/ml) for cattle, and it's otc. I'm not at all recommending you do this, but I have used it for treating mites before in the past, but given orally. So I'm just putting it out there as a better option than getting some unverified product from China. This is a very strong medication, and only very minimal amounts are needed, and it can be very easy to overdose if calculations aren't precise, so great care and precision in calculating and dosing is absolutely necessary.

Well after you get her healthy , you are going to have a beautiful young lady bun named Frank that will thank you for saving her from them. Kudo's for rescuing her, even if it was from a breeder.

Another bad signal is while I pick this black otter ND, I noticed there was a small spot on head had short hair. Then this spot grew white hair some days later.

In Canada, it's pretty safe. I always give my address to buyers. Sometimes invite them inside home if weather is not comfortable outdoor. Sellers also invited me into their apartments for pick something. My experiences were most time bad here while the Seller refuse to give address. Sometimes missing parts in a package, Sometimes not working, Sometimes not showing up. One time I drove 2.5 hour to go pickup, the seller didn't show up. I called she said she would come but never show up and didn't pick phone anymore. I wait like 2 hours, and drove 2.5 hour back to home. The next day, I saw the Seller raised the price online.

I used to work in great Los Angeles. When I just arrived there. My sister was so surprised that I walked on street at midnight. I then realized that why people walked away from me when they saw me. They saw me as a danger. :)

Although there seems a few cases more these days here in Toronto, it is a lot more safe than large city in US. Guys, if you think safety is important, move to Canada.:) Here are beautiful large lands of nature everywhere, even in this large city of Toronto.

I'm in a small town near the great lakes in the U.S., Very safe here. We always lived in big cities but never again... You can have a McMansion here for cheap, while being safe, on a large plot of land, with great neighbors.

Interesting, how much? Toronto house price jumped so high these years but now is dropping, so it's good time to hold money and wait for the next opportunity.

I got two large bottles of Ivermectin and Fenbendazole. Enough for treat all my rabbits.

1. Safe-Guard Suspension 10%, fenbendazole, 100mg/ml
2. Ivermectin Solution 5mg/ml, USP.

I am doing some treatments to two of my rabbits have symptoms. If the results are good, I am going to pre-treat all my rabbits to prevent the problems spreading.

First rabbit is Lady Frank. Since I purchased her from a registered breeder, she developed all kinds problems, from one eye discharging white fluid, head light tilted, losing balance, to large amount of dander but her pee and poops are always normal and she had one time delivered all dead babies. I checked the ears. It's for sure ear mites existing. I also suspect she has EC, based on reading and your helpful comments. As I understand, Fenbendazole is a kind of antibiotic, used as deworm and antiparasites, so I give her about 20mg per kg each day mixed to her drinking water for already 12 days and keep doing until 28 days. It seems she has some improvement on appetite, not anything else. I also understand Ivermectin is kind of antiparasite, treating mites, fleas and worms, so I apply the Ivermectin liquid on top line from head to tail. According to description, 1mL per 10 kg, I already applied twice more than 1 mL to 1kg Lady Frank. It seems nothing happened but may needs time. I also apply some to the ears, believe it will kill the mites.

Second rabbit is my best buck. He used live next to Lady Frank and a couple of time mated with Frank. He developed different symptoms. He drinks a lot and pees a lot, also his poops are paste and sometimes clear gel. Since that, his butt is always wet, so his skin around butt developed reddish irritating. I applied Lamisil cream and Sodium Fucidin Ointment to his skin, the problem is cured. I also treat him with Fenbendazole 20mg per kg. It seems his poops has little improvement, but still has wet butt and sometimes clear gel.

Please comments. Thanks
