Hi guys I’m starting my holland lop rabbitry and I have a question is it better to start off with a doe who is experienced breeding or a buck? The breeder is selling them for the same price.

How would you start a rabbitry with just a buck, or are already breeding other breeds?

Preitler I have a holland lop buck and a holland lop doe both purebred but for some reason they won’t breed! So I thought it would be better to have a experienced breeder but wasn’t sure witch would be better.

I would first check why they don't breed. There are quite some reasons and possible workarounds.
Had my buck living with my two does for 3 weeks this year, and got two litters 2 weeks apart - they aren't always in the mood. There could be something off with proceedures or environmaent that discourages them - is this your first time breeding rabbits? How old are they?

I too would opt for the proven doe if I'm reasonable sure my buck is ok.

Yes, this is my first time breeding my bunnies are 7 months old I’ve been trying to breed them for a month my buck is a false dwarf holland lop and my doe is a true dwarf holland lop is this okay?

As a dwarf breeder, I can tell you, we try to stay away from breeding false dwarf BUCKS to true dwarf DOES. I would suggest getting a bigger female for your false dwarf (unless you know he has the dwarf gene) just so she doesn’t have problems.
As for her not breeding, one of my females did the same thing, but I put her back with the buck that night and they bred. Check for a swelling vent next time you put her in (usually if you put them together and they don’t breed but you check later on the doe she is swelling and ready to be bred). I hope this all makes sense!
