Hi i don't know if other people will see this but I have a question,, is it okay for my rabbit to only eat every 5 hours? I'm a new member btw nice to meet you guys

Hey! Welcome to the forum!

What does your rabbit eat?

Grass hay (or grass) should be available to your bunny 24/7 with free access to as much of it as they want - generally, they should eat their body size (not weight) in the hay a day. I suppose it would depend on the rabbit, my rabbit eats probably every hour to every two hours. As long as they're eating enough fibrous foods (hay/grass/leaves), and their poops are good, it's likely they're fine.

I really don't have hay since idk where to get those, although I always give them leafy greens and some grass, is that okay?

that's no good, hay is 80% of their diet. you could always just order online. grass is not the same, and can have bad stuff on them if u get them from outside

hay can be found in local farms if you have any near you. But if you have a lot of grass (pesticide-free), that should be fine. As long as there is enough for them to eat their body size in it a day. Also, fibrous leaves (such as certain palm leaves) will work too.

Here is the link for the group that Diane R was talking about Facebook Groups

I am not experienced with feeding grass over hay for rabbits, but fundamentally hay is just dried grass. I do believe there are legitimate considerations you need to think about though for grass diets vs. hay diets, specifically sourcing and the nutritional content of the grass.

Based on your phrasing, it does sound like leafy greens makes up the bulk? If that's the case, I do believe that grass should actually be the majority. I think communicating with the FB group suggested above would be wise to find out the resources and strategies of rabbit owners in your country.

It is the same. Grass hay is just dried grass, which is grown outdoors. Though there are different varieties and different cuts and the maturity of cuts. If you're thinking lawn grass, that can sometimes be an issue, like if it's been sprayed, cut by a lawnmower, or if it's a very early spring growth that can sometimes be too rich.

Is this because your rabbit is only choosing to eat every 5 hours or because you're only feeding every 5 hours? Is your rabbit a healthy weight and has a good body condition? Are your rabbits poops a good size and normal round shape?

Hi yes i only feed them every 5 hours, my rabbit has a healthy weight and has a good body condition, my rabbit's poops is also in a good size and normal round shape although the color is close to black

It isn't really okay to only feed your rabbit every five hours. They are not a cat nor a dog. Grass of dried or fresh form need to be avaliable at all times, as should clean water, to keep your rabbit's gut moving properly.
It is generally said that if a rabbit isn't eating for more than 12-24hrs, it's an emergency, but i get antsy and worried even if mine haven't eaten anything significant in five or six hours. The last time i had one of my buns go five hours without anything, he died.
Do try to get your hands on some proper hay really soon. The fb group linked above is your best bet at finding it faster.

I would try to feed them more often (unless there is still enough (a body size worth) food, grass/hay/any other high fiber bunny-safe food). Definitely look at getting hay, as Catlyn said. If you google "timothy hay {your town}", then you should get some good results. if you buy online (from Filipino stores) you can get some good stuff too.

This one is only about 700 pesos.

Yeah, it's better for them to always have access to fresh grass or dried grass(hay). But if your rabbit isn't skinny and has a healthy body condition, that at least is good and means your rabbit is getting sufficient amounts of calories from the food you're feeding. You just want to make sure your rabbit is also getting enough indigestible fiber for good digestive function and has healthy sized fecal poops.
