Hi, I have a lion head rabbit that's approximately 4 years old and just had her first litter (it wasn't planned) anyway yesterday (32th day) she went in to labor around 7:45 pm inside her nest box, after she came out I checked and there was only 1 kit, after this she acted normal but still kinda tired, she didn't want to eat at first but after a couple of hours she started to eat and drink water normally. Since the kit was all alone I was afraid that he might get cold over night so I checked on him every two hours and he seemed to be just find, around 5 in the morning I decided to go to sleep and when i woke up at 7 in the morning again I found a dead kit next to my rabbit on the floor, far away from the nest box, I tried to revive him but he was gone already. I felt really guilty for not checking up on her more during the night, I just wasn't expecting her to continue with her labor. After this she went back to eating and drinking water normally and then later on, around 9:40 am, she had another kit, this time I was there to see her deliver it, she had no problems with it and was pretty fast, unfortunatley it was a still-born and i didn't see the placenta. I still tried to revive him but no luck, I think the second one must have been a still-born too. Now it's 12:12 pm and I haven't stopped watching my rabbit in case she has any more kits to deliver, she is eating and drinking water normally again, do you guys have any advice for me? She still hasn't gone back to the nest box to feed the kit but I think it's because she wasn't done with her labor and I'm still doubting if she'll have anymore. Either way she's far from the nest box and so am I in case she wants to go feed him.

By the way the father is a little smaller than she is but I still feel the kits are kinda big, it's the first time I see kits so it's just my impression.

Update: It's 12:36 and she just started pulling out more fur for the nest, I think it's good cause that means she'll go inside the nest box and probably feed the lone kit, should I be expecting more now?

Update: She had another still-born at around 13:15 pm, he was the smallest one and had him inside the nest box, i took him out and checked on the living kit, his belly is super round and he's very active, I assumed he got fed when she went in to have this fourth one.

So far, so good! She’s pulling hair for the nest, and fed the kit. Because you have a lone kit be sure to check on it every so often to make sure the doe covers him with hair after leaving the nestbox.
