Right now I need a bit of help distracting my mind, so I can space-out. I have trouble sleeping right now.

So what do you do to distract yourself 😊

Odin is already sleeping, so I don’t want to disturb him and Toste is sleeping in the kitchen.

Honestly, I'll watch a funny video or read a book, sometimes go outside and literally space out, looking at all the stars. You're in Sweden and may already be asleep by the time this is posted, but hopefully you see this and have a good night!

Right now I’m watching Spongebob 😂. I cannot sleep unless the tv is playing in the background. Silence bothers me at night and makes me paranoid.

I managed to fall asleep when the sun was going up. But thanks for the tips, I’ll maybe try something this night and see if it will help 😊

Aha, myself often have my window open, so I can hear the night life of the animals outside and can listen to Odin chew hay when he’s not sleeping.

Too bad I don’t have a tv in my room, but I can try putting a bit of music on 😊

Yeah, I sleep with rain sounds from my Alexa or something like that, I don't like the silence either!

I like the silence but I find it more relaxing when I can hear the nature outdoors. Also I need to keep the window open otherwise my allergy to the hay will kick in 😂

Keeping it open will make the symptoms less obvious. But it also depends on what kind of hay.

Truly trying to distract my mind to make it space out is hard. At least I’m listening to Odin eating hay but I’m supposed to wake up in 5 hours and still not sleeping 😱

I’m turning into a person that don’t sleep a lot. I want to be like Toste, he always sleep like a rock.

I feel you, Oreo is always sleeping, and I can't.

I’m hoping it will change tomorrow/today because it’s already a new day, I’m going to try fix a time at the health center. Because I’m dead tired but it’s just extremely uncomfortable at the moment when laying down. I can’t sleep while sitting up. So I try to space-out which will make it easier to sleep.

Odin have fallen asleep now, how can he go and sleep during the night 😒

At least these couple of nights, I’ve come up with a few presents idea to give to friends and what I’m going to draw on a birthday card. While I’ve also looked into different desserts I can bake both for me and the bunnies 🤣

I also found a few good instrumental songs, so I’ve done something productive. While during the day I study.

The distracting my mind to zone-out went really bad, I had a sleepless night. Why did I even bother trying to fall asleep for so long.

Instead I took an hour long hot shower, watched a zombie movie while also seeing the night shift to day. I gave up trying to sleep when I hit 4 am. So I had to sneak out from my bedroom to not wake Odin up 😒

Best comment from my mom when she saw me ”Why are you up so early”. My thoughts where: l never fell asleep, but I said I just watched the sunrise which my mom didn’t believe 🤣

I've had sleeping problems as well and was told that screens are bad, routine is your best friend and a drone sound helps many people. Personally I sleep with a box fan going for that. I've tried reading a good old fashion book but that is just as bad as a screen for me. I took up diamond painting for a while which I found relaxing and you can even have personal ones made of your buns. Counted cross stitch would be another repetitive thing that may help you fall asleep. Good luck and let me know if I can help walk you through any of the craft projects. I would be more than happy to help.

I've been doing word searches at bedtime. I was playing solitaire on the computer but then I started thinking about 'blue screen' light. I also like to read at bedtime but I can't read anything non-fiction as I tend to wake up to have to read 'data'. The only thing I can read at bedtime to aid in sleep is light fiction. Anxiety can hinder sleep as can a number of health issues.

Turned out something is wrong with my thyroid, it’s putting a pressure on my airways. I feel like someone is holding a choke hold around the neck, truly an unpleasant feeling 😒

So I’m going to call the specialist tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment.

At least now, I know what have been causing me to have troubles. My brain is screaming to sleep after I’ve only slept 12 hours these past 5 days. Then you top it with studying at least 8 hours every day. My head want to go on a strike and my memory have already escaped my grasp. I can’t even remember my own phone number which I know I can, so memory is byebye 👾

I have chronic fatigue syndrome. Sleep is a big necessity for me.
I have found that a magnesium supplement is very helpful I use magnesium glycinate since it has the least laxative effect. Iodine is another nutrient that helps with sleep, and incidentally with thyroid. To get additional iodine I eat dried nori.
Melatonin has been helpful for many people, although, it had little effect for me.
Excluding light from my bedroom has been very helpful. I use light blocking curtains and shades on my windows. Wiggling around to turn of the light will often break the process of falling asleep. I got a smart switch to turn the light off for me.
One of the best things that I've come upon is Audible. It is a phone app that reads books to you. Unlike a TV that has flashing lights, shocking sounds, loud commercials, etc. Audible quietly engages my imagination without distraction, the gears stop turning as I focus on the story. It sets the stage with eyes closed for a natural falling asleep.
@Contimom is correct about routine being important. Try to be very consistent about bedtime and the routine.

Good luck with whatever treatment you get prescribed.

I listen to ASMR roleplay videos on youtube in bed to help me sleep (like a barbershop, spa, skincare, ear cleaning rp) with the screen off/lights off, earbuds in they help my mind quiet while I'm listening to something relaxing in bed. Then when I'm on the verge of sleep I turn it off and drift off.
