Hi everyone, as the title say I wonder if it’s common for bunnies bowl movements to slow down when they get older or do their intestine get worse at absorbing nutrients as it quite common when humans get older.
Myself have noticed Lilja my french lop bunny, she will turn 7 years in 3 months. I’m going to take her to the vet. A couple of months her droppings had gotten smaller even though she eats her food and hay. I had been at a rabbit savy vet but she was healthy and just overall a happy bunbun.
Recently she have also started to choke on her food, so I put her on a porridge diet, that all her food except hay will be mashed. After she got mashed food instead her droppings got bigger and lighter, which made me quite confused. She’s still eating hay and grass, no different personality changes and full with speed when running loose. But how could mashed food make such a different compared when it was solid, so myself could even see it on her droppings.
I know she sleeps a lot but she’s quite old for being such a large breed.
