Hey, everyone! New bunny owner, here! My rabbit is a month old and she had normal behavior, but recently I've been noticing her pink skin peeking out from her fur. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone knows what's going on. Thank you! I attached a picture to get a better sense of what I mean.

Looks like her fur is really thin. Have you see any mites? Is she shedding a lot right now? She is super cute, I love her color! And, welcome to the forum!

I definitely haven't seen any mites or anything out of the ordinary. I haven't seen her shed much, either. Although, when I ran a comb through, a small bit of her fur was brushed off.

Also, thank you so much!! I'm glad to join this community!

Try to avoid brushing her and her grooming herself. Are there places where it is thinner than others? Could she be pulling it out without you knowing?

I've been keeping a close eye on her lately and I haven't seen a hint of fur in my apartment. Her back is the only place that worries me, every other area is fine. Her pulling out hairs May be a possibility but I wouldn't say so. I'll definitely cut back on brushing her for a while to see if it grows back.

Maybe get a vets opinion? Just email them, explain the situation, and send a picture. Ask if you need to bring her in.

If you aren't seeing dandruff, flea dirt, or skin irritation, and there aren't any other rabbits with her that could be overgrooming her, then it could just be a molt. Though at 4 weeks old that would be very unusual. 4 weeks is very young for a bunny to be weaned from it's mom, and not really a good idea as it can affect their health. So that could be another possibility, is that weaning too early has lead to a sensitivity developing.

I've checked her for dandruff, mites, fleas, dirt, and other skin irritations, but the only that stood out was her back. This may be dandruff, are there any recommended home remedies to stop or prevent further damage just in case?

Also I asked my dad's friend, who gave the bunny to him, and according to him she's actually a little over 8 weeks! (Which, in hindsight, I should have known given that I took my dad's word for it)

I had the same problem with my bunny about 6 months ago. He was losing the fur only on his lower back. There were some specs of white in the fur. Took him to my vet and she said he had "walking dandruff" caused by a fur mite. My bunny is an indoor bunny so I don't know how this happened. You can probably look it up on line. Anyhow she put the specs under a slide to determine what the problem was. She gave him an application of Revolution on the back of his neck. She told me to give him another application in about two weeks. Took him back for a follow up and the problem cleared up. The fur on his back quickly grew back and the mites were gone. I haven't had any problem since. You might have to take your bunny to the vet. Let us know how you make out.

PS Please do not give any home remedies or Revolution without taking him to the vet. Revolution for bunnies is a little different from that applied to a cat or dog.

Already set up an appointment, thank you so much for all your input!
