Is a gravity water feeder with a carbon filter safe for bunnies?

Happy 2020! I got one of those gravity feeders that dispense water and can hold a lot. My bunny drinks a lot of water but would tip over his bowls (he's an eager little thing) so I felt like this would solve both the problem of me having to keep refilling and prevent him from tipping. The water feeder has a carbon filter to keep the water from getting stale etc. Is it safe for bunnies? I've linked the one I'm talking about.

You are better off getting a heavy ceramic bowl or one that attaches to the side of the cage.
Water bowls should still be changed and wiped out daily regardless of "carbon filters" or not.

Your link doesn't work, but I know what kind of dispenser you're talking about.

I got tired of the tipped over bowls too (yes, even the heavy ceramic and stoneware ones) and bought a gravity water feeder and it's been awesome.

The only thing I usually have to look out for is the hair and hay that gets kicked up into the bowl. I don't usually let the water tank get empty before I change it out, because the bowl is usually dirty before the tank is empty, but it solves lots of problems, and bun can get fresh water constantly.

I do not use a filter with mine at all. I'm not sure if the filtering process would hurt, but also I'm not sure it would be necessary as long as the water you give your bun is the same you drink yourself and is safe for you.

You could always get those bowls that twist onto a clamp. They can't be tipped but are still easy to clean out each day. The clamp part is screwed onto the cage wall. The bowl itself just twists and lifts right out of the clamp.

Aw! love seeing pics of your bunnies! I'm going to try this out. Whenever I see them in the pet store, they're always tiny. Do you have a link to a nice large one?

I'm in NYC and we have some pretty good tap water (I've drank it in the past but often opt for bottled water.) Think that's ok?

I would think any water fit for human consumption is ok for buns. If you have any doubt, you can always give them the bottled purified water (that's what I personally drink, but NOT spring water. That is missing essential nutrients that other waters include).

Look in the bird section of pet stores. That's where I found the larger ones. Mine are 20 oz. Petsmart and Petco carry these (or similar).
