Our lovable rabbit Archie just passed away and I've been crying buckets for 2 hours. He was happily scoffing his pellets and then when next checked on him he was curled up dead by the entrance to the bunny shed. I noticed last night when I went to pet him his fur felt matted like a damp old fleece rug and I could feel his bones, whilst his friend Kick felt silky and you could feel muscle on her. That said he was eating fine, his droppings looked kinda normal although maybe a bit dark and not as fiberous as I'd expect, they were wormed in August, so I don't understand why he passed so suddenly. There wasn't any sign of external trauma so it wasn't something like a cat bite from visiting neighbours' cats (usually I scare them out the garden so they don't prey on our rabbits or infect them with worms.)

Kick just died tonight. I'm mortified. I'm suspecting poisoning as we usually just open the shed door to let them out, fill their pellets, replace the water and hay, and leave them to run around the garden until bedtime when they're usually already waiting for us to lock them back in. I noticed that recently there was a massive pile of connifer cuttings on our lawn, apparently the neighbour trimmed his hedge down and must've clambered over to our side as the bricks that keep the gate shut had been moved, and pulled the huge cuttings over the fence onto our lawn.

Oh, sorry for your loss. :(

With two rabbits dying I don't think it was poisoning, it's not likely to poison a rabbit that is used to pick in the garden. More likely is a desease like RHD if they were not vaccinated, dosn't change anything now, but it is something to consider when you get other rabbits in the future.
