I am starting to get in to breeding Holland’s for 4h and show and I was wondering if I could get showable babies breeding black tort and chestnut Holland’s. would breeding these 2 wreck the color of either. The black tort’s parents and grandparents are all black tort as well and I don’t know what the chestnut has in her lines. Thanks!

Of course you can go ahead and give it a go- see what comes of it.

Ah, I think the question was if the resulting colours are competitive or even recognized to get those offspring to shows.
Me, myself, have no idea of that.

i think that lops have the most accepted color varieties of all breeds, as to if the colors will overpower each other, i don´t know either. it could be either way- pure, broken or tricolor. it´s mostly the matter of finding out.

Depending on the genes is there any chance for totters I have no idea just wondering.

well, sure, it could be possible. kids usually inherit a set of genes from both parents, incorporating them into their development.(if that makes any sense)
so if mom has a coat of chestnut, and dad has tort coat, the kids could either get mom´s hazel, dad´s tort or a mixture of both. in some occasions, kids may develop a third set of colors unrelated to their parents.
so there´s a chance of that happening.
