So i'm gonna have to put some wire mesh in my X pen because he was able to escape, and i was wondering if i should put in on the inside or out of the pen?

Dont want him to get hurt or be able to escape either.

Would appreciate some advice, thanks.

Just for some clarification— was he able to escape because the gaps between the bars are too big?

yeah i guess so...he's 2 months old. The gaps are like this

Did you see him actually wiggle between the bars?
Some rabbits have learned to just climb over xpens. I had a girl who would jump that height no issue.
yep...caught him in the act. He put his head first and then his whole body..

Put the wire or cardboard inside the cage. It will also make it harder to chew if he pick up that habit. So it will protect your bunny teeth.

I have one bunny that do the same like yours, even though he’s overweight he manage to get through with his bum. But he have a bit of struggle. While I have another one that climb or jump over. While the third one will just make the whole thing collapse, she can even open up some doors in the house with putting pressure in one corner xD

So bunnies have different way to escape a pen ^^
