I want to train my bun some tricks in order to interact with him more since I'm barely home. I was wondering what treats I should give him, something that I can give a lot of. I tried to give him his pellets, but he's not that interested (when I bring it further away from him he just gives up and turns away). He does have a treat that he really likes (so much that he climbs up to me to get it), but I don't think I can give him that constantly.

Can I maybe get him more interested in his pellets somehow? I give him half a cup in the morning (he's 9 months old), so maybe it's because he has already eaten enough pellets?

You are correct that standard treats, even fresh fruits, need to be limited too much to be able to use for frequent rewards during training.
What is the weight of your rabbit? Half cup of pellets sounds like a lot (unless he's a large breed). Does he get his pellets the same time each day? Do they sit in his bowl or are they consumed all at once?

I don't know his weight but he is a dwarf rabbit. Until now I gave him half a cup only in the morning. But from what I've seen he doesn't eat it all at once (I can only be there to see it on the weekend so..). I also give him some lettuce as well.

You can use the daily pellets ratio as treats. Bunnies love it and you won’t have to worry how much you give. You can also make the pellets bits a bit smaller if you want to have more.

Myself often use pellets as treats, occasionally I will give treats during the week like small apple bits and those things but for training pellets are the best.

My dwarf bunny get 1 tsb of pellets the smallest get 1/2 tsp. He often get so full he have to sleep and his stomach get extremely round. Both my bunnies have a healthy weight and not boney except the small one it’s a bit on the overweight side. So bunnies don’t need that much pellets.

Your bunny get more than my giant bunny eats per day. She’s an outdoor bunny that have trouble keeping her weight up. She weights 5 kg ^^

So not that weird if it’s a dwarf bunny eating that much pellets and already fully grown up. He must be really stuffed

You could try orchard hay. My rabbits go crazy for it like it’s a treat.

Half cup for a dwarf is a LOT. That's the amount an 8-10 lb rabbit should get! No wonder he doesn't eat it all at once. (and no wonder he isn't wanting them as rewards)

My rabbit is not a dwarf but is on the small side (imo) at around 5lbs. He gets about 3 tablespoons per day (that's less than 1/4 cup). And that's even more than Hermelin feeds.

Would definitely recommend cutting back on that pellet amount. Once he's used to a lesser amount, the pellets may then actually work as reward treats.
