Desexing my 4mth old

I’m a first time rabbit owner, so I’m unsure on how to proceed.

My sweet Buffy is 4 months old. I’ve know since planning on getting a rabbit that I’d get it/her desexed when they were old enough.
Buffy has recently taken up digging as an increasing behaviour that has me thinking it might be time to book her desexing.

She digs at the rug in her expen (it’s just about destroyed), she digs at her litter box (meaning that I’m cleaning it up and changing it out twice a day or more) and to save what little yard we have I’ve made up a digging box for her as she was digging at the fence daily.

I was hoping to put off her desexing till around January, but with changes in behaviour increasing should I book the appointment?

I think digging is normal behavior for rabbits whether they are desexed or not. I give my rabbits a large tote filled with crumpled paper, cardboard, toys, etc. for them to dig in. My vet would not spay my rabbit until she was 6 months old anyway. Maybe yours will if your rabbit is larger than mine though. Mine was only 2 pounds at 5 months and the vet said he wanted her to get bigger before he would spay her.

And make sure the Vet that does the procedure is one that knows rabbits--the Vet that did most of ours does several a week so I was as comfortable as I could be with the situation.

Ummm yeah good point, I’ve noticed that since getting her a pond filled with topsoil Buffy isn’t doing the digging as bad in her litter box it’s like she knows that can be her outlet...

Oh my goodness yes! I’ve been notified of a really good bunny vet that is pretty local to me so when I do book her appointment it will be with him
