First experience with GI Stasis

Hi,
First time dealing with GI stasis.. My girl Phrosty would not eat her breakfast pellets yesterday, and had no interest in lettuce or carrots. I took her to vet and they gave her Metoclopramide, Metacam, and Critical care. They sent me home with all three to administer over the next several days. Phrosty was much better by the evening and even ate some hay and lettuce. I was able to give her the evening does of Metoclopraide, but was unsuccessful with the Critical Care. She became so upset and started breathing really hard, I let her go, and skipped it.
This morning, she is alert and hopping around, but still not interested in her pellets. I was able to give her the metoclopramide, and metacam. However, the process seems so taxing on her. She is not a bunny that likes to be held. Do I keep giving her the meds, or see how she does without them at this point? Thank you!!!

I’m in the same boat as well. I have so many supplies to make my bun feel better, but it’s extremely stressful to her to give them. I keep wondering if I’m making it worse by stressing her out so much. Interested to see any replies on this. Good luck [emoji3590][emoji3590][emoji3590]

From my experience: Do what needs to be done, no matter what the rabbit feels about it at the moment. Act with confidence.

Every time I had to force feed a rabbit, give tummy massages, etc, I lost quite an amount of blood, but after that ordeal was over they were a lot more relaxed around me, one doe that didn't allow me to pet her changed her mind after a stasis episode (with force feeding and a lot of handling, she ripped a winter jacket I used for protection to shreds). After that she was like a new bunny. Demanded pets, and was just much more friendly.
