@Alyssa and Bugs♡ Thanks so much. I think maybe I’ve given them too much room too soon (they pretty much have the whole room). Should I make it smaller? I’m worried about him catching her if they fight in a smaller space as now she can run away but they’ve never mounted so maybe he’s just trying to do that? Thanks again

At a bun-parent social this past weekend, a bun dad mentioned this personal experience. He has two bonded buns, ages 3-ish and 14. Both Spayed and Neutered. Happily living content in his home for 2 or so years. He occasionally boards the buns at the DVM clinic. His bondmates got into a fight at the clinic due to the smaller area they had to occupy. (Perhaps strange smells as well, dunno?).
His 14-year old boy's ear was punctured in two spots. The bonded Fe/M pair are fine in a bigger space at home. The clinic knows (now, as does the dad) that a certain female has issues with seeing her hubby and cohabitating in a smaller area.
Always good to be on the watch. Leaving the hutch door open as an option sounds like a good plan... Tons of good info on bonding available when you google. Thanks for looking out for them!!

@Alyssa and Bugs♡ I’m not sure why I thought the space could be too big- just thought that maybe he wants to attempt to mate with her (she’s spayed/ he’s neutered) but he can’t catch her and he’s getting cross.
@TreasuredFriend Thanks so much for your response and the link. When I left them alone today I came back and found them flopped next to each other in the cage (the door was open) Think they’re getting there but I’m still constantly worrying - it’s like having more children!

Thank you all so much for your help and advice. They’re being really sweet with each other, flopping together, finally grooming each other and happily snuggling in their litter trays (in their cage) even though they are free roam and have a whole room. I leave the cage open all the time, they eat together and seem very happy. The rex is binkying around and the lop is constantly resting. So happy - hope it lasts!
