What’s your bunny’s favorite “people food”?

I’m curious...does your bunny freak out any time they see a particular food you eat and beg for some?

Mine is obsessed with Cheez Its/Goldfish/any cheese crackers. The second she sees or hears someone with a Cheez Its box she comes BOLTING, even if she already has her own food.

What’s your bunny’s favorite human food (that they probably shouldn’t eat)?

Any kind of bread, dry or not, carrots, apples. Muesli. I have to be very carefull what I leave on the table.

My Odin loves uncooked rice and pasta, as long it’s a food we humans eat he will try. If he disappear. I just grab a potato chips bag open it while holding it in front of small hide places and he will come running. Works every time, he never even tasted a chips.

Did a test with a yummy bunny friendly treat (strawberry) and a cookie, he picked the cookie instead. So he go for the human food.

Toste loves crisp bread, he’s more on the picky side.

Both Toste and Odin hates paprika like me.

Oh gosh, anything edible is Bugs's favorite. If I walk into my room with anything in my hand he freaks out until I show him what it is. If I carry my phone differently, he'll chase me until he realizes it's not food. He likes to get into food no matter where I leave it and will run to our mini fridge if he wants something to eat. Over the year, he's gotten into cereal, chocolate, mint gum, poptarts, and many other things I can't remember now. Strangely, he's never gotten sick from any of this.

My Tawny wants to eat the bags potatoes come in. I know it's not actually people "food", but she's totally obsessed with eating them. I have to unload potatoes into a box to even bring them into the house, lol.

My bunnies have an obsession with potato chips, pita chips, cereal, beer and GUMMY BEARS. Of course, I would never knowingly give them candy or beer, as those are horrible for them...but they have snuck some and were obsessed.

I have given them small amounts of chips like twice in 1 year, but I stopped buying those things to prevent temptation.

You can tell by the crazy look in their eyes LOL.

I would like to that although it is kind of cute and just because the bunnies have not gotten sick (yet), does not mean it is acceptable to feed them these things. Gut stasis is the 1# bunny killer, it seems

I'd like to add to what @Bunny_Mommy said: these things shouldn't be fed intentionally, although we all know things do happen. Just because Bugs/your buns haven't gotten sick yet doesn't mean they won't. Try to keep food out of reach

Weirdest food I ever saw a rabbit eating? Layne (RIP, little guy) knocked over a very tall kitchen trash can, dug through the contents and found a piece of chocolate/peanut butter Easter candy that was wrapped in foil and had been expired for OVER A YEAR. He was eating it foil and everything when I caught it and ripped it away.

In general, carbs and sugary things... crackers, cereal, chips and other grains especially... have to be carefully guarded in our house. Both from Ruby (our newest cat) and the bunns. I've had a cracker ripped from my fingers more than once by a precocious rabbit.

Oh, the number of times I’ve had crackers ripped out of my hands! She’ll even stick her head in the bag and steal some faster than I can stop her!

The more forbidden it is, the more they want it, lol. I just remembered that when Nala and Gazzles were little, they would come up and drink out of my wine glass when I was sitting on the floor with them. To thwart them, I switched to drinking wine out of something with a straw and lid. They watched me drinking from the straw and then they'd come up and chew at the straw like they were trying to figure out how to use it to get the wine! Silly rabbits.

I've also told rabbits more times than I could ever possibly count that "You're not supposed to eat cake (or cookies, etc.), you're a vegan! That's got eggs in it." Do they care? Absolutely not. Their sweet tooth is all they care about .

Bananas! I had one rabbit grab a banana peel out of trash and run off with it. Even when I finally grabbed it she wouldn't let go. We ended up doing a little tug-of-war, and the banana peel ripped. I decided she could eat the part she ripped off after all her efforts lol but it was quite funny to see a little rabbit running across the room carrying a large banana peel. They go crazy at even the slightest scent of banana

I never knew until a few months ago, but banana peels are perfectly safe and often beloved by rabbits! I was also shocked when I wandered across a youtube video of a bunny eating a lemon slice. Two of our four were actually inclined to eat a piece of lemon when I gave it a try (keep in mind that if you offer very acidic fruits like lemon, you should be especially stingy with portion size because too much can cause digestive upset).

My bun, a 3mth old cottontail, goes nuts for popcorn. Being a "wild" bunny I haven't offered any people food but she found one on the floor and that's all it took. We now use it to coax her from hidey holes. We have never physically removed her from her sleeping box (cardboard box lined with faux furr and her pig stuffed animal she's slept with/on/under since birth). Her box is her ultimate safe space, but let her smell popcorn and we no longer have to beg her to come out and play. Yay! Who knew popcorn had such power. Lol

I have a banana obsessed rabbit as well. One banana cannot be eaten in my house without drama. First, the guinea pigs hear me peel it open and the one will start screaming his siren scream. My bunny, Precious, recognizes this certain pitched guinea pig yell and comes running. She jumps into her cage and BEGS for some! Just goes nuts. I then feed the guinea pigs and Precious a small piece. Sometimes the guinea pigs are in another room and Precious knows that me standing at the counter and chuckling means I have a banana. In her cage she goes, begging again! Other rabbits I've had have liked bananas as well, but they never put on a show like this.

I can not eat a banana without sharing it in my house. My dog will see it in my hand and want part of it, then when I had my rabbit in my house I would have to share it with him, and Then my turtle follows me around her tank ( I'm outside of it and she walks back and forth). Then the rabbit that I had in my house I would have to watch my sweet tea, He was on my bed and I rested my hand with my cup in it on my bed and he was drinking it. So I got up and made him a glass of chamomile tea and he didn't want that he still wanted mine, I guess it must have been the sugar in the sweet tea that he liked.(I didn't put any sugar in the chamomile).

Harvey likes banana peel and fresh strawberry but goes bonkers for Craisins. She’ll come running is she hears the bag crackle.

I remember years ago, when we had just two each of rabbits and cats (back when it was Nala and Gazzles). I had them on the bed and got the craisins out and not only did they go berserk when the bag opened, but the cats came running too like it was cat treats only to turn their noses up when I offered them what was in the bag. This was back when the rabbits were technically 'mine' and the cats 'his' because they pre-dated our marriage... I teased 'his' cats about not being smart enough to know the difference between craisins and cat treats. Hubby tried to make a counter-point by crinkling the cat treat bag at rabbits and trying to make them fall for it the way the cats did for the craisin bag. His ploy failed miserably, as rabbits did NOT fall for it! I called it a victory for rabbit-kind and claimed they had just proven they were smarter than the cats (at least when it comes to thinking with their stomachs) .

On a weird side-note, we still have one cat who comes tearing in when you break out the craisins... except he EATS them! Little punk sure called my bluff on that one.

Mine likes banana, Digestive cookies, and home made Christmas cookies with honey and sesame!! I give her those a very small bite each time we eat.. but we don’ t eat so often all this “shits” The funny think is that any time we eat something while watching a movie she eats the crumbs from the floor!!we say she is like a vacuum cleaner
