Hi my 6 month old holland lop loves pets but he would rather just be off hopping around the house all day than cuddling with me. Will this change at all after he’s neutered?

Neutering helps with things like aggression, but your rabbit is still a bunny, and they have a lot more energy than a mature rabbit. It can be hard to get a bunny to stay still, the same way that it is hard to get a puppy to sit still. How cuddly your rabbit becomes will depend on his personality.

My boy bunnies are also 6 months but were nutered at 4 months. I was told they don't get to the cuddly stage until about 2 years of age and have accetped that I will have to wait. They have just gotten to the point that they allow me to pet them without hopping away immediately. For now I just lay on the ground and let them climb on me as it seems to be their favorite game.

What age does the hyper bunny energy go away? He’s affectionate, he licks me sometimes and loves to have his entire head and face rubbed and loved on, but the first chance he has to escape my clutches he’s off!!

Shasta has it correct. They slow down around 2 -2 1/2 years of age. Some rabbits are more cuddly than others depending on their personality. Some rabbits are very independent and don't like being cuddled. I think Holland Lops are known for their friendly personality. I had one and he was a sweetheart.

I have a rabbit that is 1 1/2 years old and he is all energy. Strangely, I can use him as a therapy rabbit because I found something that works for him. I got an adjustable cat bed from PetSmart. As long as he is in that cat bed, he is calm and feels secure and I can hold him with the bed. I can't guarantee that it will work for every rabbit, but it works for mine. Some people use a basket with fleece in it.

Thank you guys for the responses.
Niomi that’s a really good idea.
I also have a 10 week old polish and a 10 week old lionhead/mini rex. They both will sit still for pets. When Polish sees me coming, he instantly flattens down and waits for pets. Are they calmer than the lop or have they just not entered the hyper bunny phase yet? They like to explore if I stop petting them but will sit still for as long as I will pet them.
