I have taken him vets they checked his teeth nothing major found they said to continue syringe feeding him but he’s lost weight . What else can I feed to make him put weight on? He’s being very selective . how much should he be having when syringing ? Or is any amount better than nothing

Did the vet give you medication???

He’s on baytril meatacam and sulfatrim

Two different antibiotics?

Do you have any Cisapride at home? Or other gut-motility medication? Simethicone gas drops?

Have you called the vet and told them how your rabbit is acting??

How long has this been going on??

I'm worried for your bun. Is he eating ANY hay??? How are poops looking???

He went to the vets this morning . He is pooing and weeing so his guts is working the vets wasn’t concerned bout that. He hasn’t eaten any hay all he’s eating is dandelions , grass and parsley . I am syringing critical care food every few hours

Ok your rabbit needs lots and lots of hay. Is he drinking water? If not, try syringe-feeding him some purified water. As long as he is eating and pooping he will be ok for now, but he really needs to eat hay, he needs the fiber from hay. If he wants grass, keep feeding him grass but make sure there is plenty of fresh hay around for him in case he changes his mind.

Did the vet give you any tummy meds?

I wouldnt worry about trying to "put weight on him" just yet. Focus on getting him through the course of antibiotics, closely monitor his poops and what he is eating, and how much.

Do you not feed your rabbit any leafy greens?

Trying to help :)

He has fresh veg every day twice a day at the moment to get him eating he has parsley cabbage spinach kale basil dill . He has everything in his hutch at the moment but not touched anything . I have managed to syringe him 7 ml and he’s pooped throughout the day. I’ve ordered him fibreplex waiting for it to come . I’m really worried don’t no what else to do and he has heat pads in his hutch

Lynsey,

Your vet should have told you what to feed, how much, how often, when they directed you to continue to syringe feed. There has to be something going on with your rabbit is it will not eat on it's own. Hopefully he will turn and get better and begin to eat on his own.

Did they provide anything to you at the vet? Stimulant to get him eating, pain meds...might need a trip to a vet savvy with Rabbits.

Told me to put him on metacam that’s it with his antibiotics . I’ve ordered some fibreplex to give him which I found out about online not cu they told me . I’m going to take him off his antibiotics for a few days just give him pain relief and emeprid with syringe feeding see what happens

Writing on here since I’m having a similar issue. Ongoing for a few weeks my bun has been acting off. Fast forward to now. He’s poopinb but not as much as his normal and they are significantly smaller some are tiny. He’s eating his hay but not like normal. He’s still not drinking his water, a bowl can last 3 days. I syringe it to him but he spits it out . He’s been laying down a lot , on his side and stomach. And the odd this is he seems like he’s breathing really heavy/fast. He’s been to the vet and she said he was healthy but not sure. He’s been more active which is a plus. He’s eating his veggies. His stomach sounds kinda quiet, I hear some faint gurgles every once in a while. Should I do a cycle of simethcone? At this point I am confused , frustrated and so stressed . I don’t know what’s wrong or what to do. Could he have a blockage?

Did the vet check his teeth ? His guts haven’t stopped as he’s pooing so that’s good ,maybe start syringe feeding him critical care and seek a second opinion
