We have 4 month old Mini Rex and have only had him for 2 days. He will be running around the room and then all of a sudden lay down and will be shaking. Should we be worried. First time rabbit owners. Thanks for any help.

Is there anything else happening to your bunny? How are they doing now since you first posted 8 or so minutes ago? Are they up and running around again?

Yes, he is back up and running around.
That’s good I’m glad to hear your bunny seems to be their usual self again. Sometimes bunnies do what we call a “flop” where they all of a sudden lay down extra cozy. It usually means they are comfortable/satisfied. If your bunny all of a sudden does something concerning to you try to check to see if they are responsive or are they lethargic. If they are not responsive to you gently petting them then contact your vet immediately for further instructions. Bunnies are interesting and at times humorous creatures. There is a whole load of behaviors that are normal. There is a good article on usual behaviors of rabbits. I will try to post it to this thread soon.

I have a Mini Rex that does the exact same thing. Seems to just be from the excitement of running around and playing. :)

All my rabbits do what you described. They get really excited to see me when I get home and will run around. Then suddenly they flop and are shaking. They are just all worked up from being excited. I freaked me out a couple of times. But, then it was happening to all 4 of them and they would be fine a couple of minutes later. I think what yours is doing is normal, so I wouldn't worry. :)
