Hello, I have a rabbit that has been sneezy with cleaning cages and hay. I figured he had allergies. The night before last I noticed some discharge coming from his nose, so I immediately separated him from other rabbits. Since separating him, sneezing has stopped.. paws have matted fur but they have been dry since that night. I have found a couple of boogers in his nose since but no extreme snot. No watery eyes, no wheezing or anything. At first I was worried about Pasteurella but now I’m not so sure. I just purchased some vetrx on amazon to try. I was wondering if anyone has had a rabbit with allergies that cause white boogers without it being Pasteurella. Confused because the sneezing stopped. I am including a picture to show how much nose has dried up. I’ve been wiping any boogers I’ve seen. Thanks

I believe pasturella is a type of upper respiratory infection, so if that's the case, then yes, it can absolutely be another bacterial infection, rather than pasturella specifically. I never got a culture for my rabbit's URI (upper respiratory infection), but he was treated successfully for his sneezing/white discharge. It's been over a year now and no more symptoms, despite going throufh other medical complications, so there are definitely bacteria which cause sneezing and nasal discharge that can be treated.

I recommend going to a rabbit experienced vet and discuss what you've observed.

As for the sneezing stopping, there would have actually been something in the nose that was causing a sneezing reflex that's now out. If the white discharge remains though, that is a sign of infection.
