When I checked on my rabbit this morning she was in her nest grunting and straining. She is now just moving around her hutch and occasionally flopping down on her side. Her tummy is contracting. There are still no kits or any sign of any coming out. There is a small amount of blood stained discharge. It’s her first litter.

what should I do? How long should I leave her in labour? Can labour stop and start in rabbits like humans?

I'd contact your vet asap I wouldn't take her to them just if you can phone them and describe your situation. Giving birth is usually quite easy if there you feel was some difficulties maybe she has complications maybe babies stuck or something maybe she needs stimulation or some sort of professional help. I wouldn't move her just call your vet say it is an emergency and what they say. Hope you'll be fine keep us updated good luck!

Thank you for replying. She had one kit this morning but unfortunately it didn’t survive the prolonged labour. I took her to the vet and she has one more in there and has had a dose of oxytocin to speed the process up. It would appear that because she only had two they got too big and made labour difficult. As long as she’s okay that’s the main thing.
