So recently, I got a big playpen for my bunny. I like to sit in it and let Snowball come near me and sniff me. I don’t pet him while he’s sniffing me. However, now he seems to walk/run around me in circles, lick me once or twice, and then runs around again. My bunny also nibbles at my clothes a lot too. I heard that licking is usually a sign of affection but isn’t that when they’re asking to be pet so they wait there in a submissive pose? He doesn’t do that. I’m confused could there be another meaning or is that just how he is? And if he is showing affection, it’s kinda suspicious since I got him about 2 weeks ago? Doesn’t it take longer for them to get closer to you? Sorry for the many questions haha.

Hi there,From I'm also a new bunny owner but from what I've read, licking is indeed affection, nibbling your clothes is grooming and running round you in circles also means affection. Seems to me your doing something (alot!) right and your bunny loves you.

Your bunny can also be courting you, if he’s not neutered with running around. But it’s also a show of affection :)

Some bunnies get close and bond fast with their owners, be happy about that. Your bond with your bun can become even closer and easier for you to take those steps.

Myself own a bunny for nearly a year and I’m still not close with him. So it all depends on the bunny.

For my rabbit, I know licking is his way of saying "OK, I've graced you with my love. Now give me food.", Haha. I think generally it's a positive gesture as mentioned, and it's important to think of the context to see if the licks are asking for anything in return (like grooming from you!).
