charlie is 3-4 months old. I got him last week from a breeder. I'm noticing he sneezes quite a bit and his nose has brown discharge. Does he need a vet or is this something I can take care of at home?

Before you go to vets you can clean his nose with a damp cotton wool pad use just clear water or I make some herbal teas for that, chamomile, thyme or just black tea, it can be warm or room temperature, not hot. Do it a couple times a day and if it is not gone by tomorrow maybe vet will help him better.

My rabbits sneeze occasionally and in most cases it's from dusty hay, I clean their noses and shake a bale of compressed hay inside a large plastic bag after removing it from package so just trying to reduce dust as much as possible. I am allergic myself so getting sneeze from hay sometimes as well.

Another question is why has he dirty nose check his bum maybe he has diarrhea or something and needs some assistance. Or digging somewhere is he indoor or outdoor rabbit?

Anyway if you clean his nose and see if he has it again in a few hours you can find out why this is happening, hopefully nothing serious, good luck!

I would recommend a vet visit with a rabbit-experienced vet if it's clear the discharge color isn't a result of dirt or something that's caught in the nose and is simply flushing out. Typically, discharge can be clear (which is more likely to be irritant-related, than an infection), white/yellow (more indicative of an infection), or bloody. I mention bloody because dried blood can turn brown, so I'm wondering if the discharge may be indicating something wrong in the nasal passages.

If he does have colored discharge - not just dirt - (anything other than clear), that is indicative of an infection. Snuffles (as this is commonly referred to) should be treated ASAP. You might want to also ring the breeder and ask if any other of her stock is showing signs (since you've had her for such a short time, it could have come from the breeder).

Thanks. I will contact the breeder to see if any of her have issues. I didn't notice anything when I got him. Maybe the stress of moving can bring out symptoms? Everything else seems normal...eyes/ears are clear, no diarrhea, acting normal.

Stress can weaken the immune system, allowing symptoms to show up for potentially underlying conditions. My rabbit had an upper respiratory infection (URI; like snuffles, but not chronic and its treatable), and it didn't show up until after he came to my home. Similarly, his syphilis symptoms didn't show up until his immune system was weakened by a ringworm infection.
