It has been a while since I have been on here, but I have a rabbit in stasis. I have always done right by my rabbits diet wise so I NEVER thought I’d battle stasis. I’m a vet tech at an exotic veterinarian, and I have seen so many die from stasis. So, my 6 year old rabbit Petey developed a head tilt last Thursday (presumably from an inner ear infection). I started him on some meclizine, metacam, and antibiotics. However, I soon noticed that he was no longer eating and pooping very little. We then started him on sub Q fluids, probiotics, metaclopramide, and mirtazipine. I’ve been doing belly massages and he is in my kitchen so that he has plenty of room to be active. I also started syringe feeding critical care. I’ve started feeding lots of kale and he ate it readily so I had a lot of hope. I also went out and got some orchard and alfalfa hay. He started eating the orchard hay which had me thinking he must be improving. However, today he has not eaten any of the kale or hay. He was doing so good and then just stopped. I’m still syringe feeding as well as offering an array of baby food. At this point I’m really starting to worry about him going down hill again. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Foods most bunnies won’t turn down? I really don’t want to lose this guy. His mate just died last year from kidney disease at 10. Any suggestions are welcome!

He may need stronger pain medication. You may need to just keep up the syringe feeding since rabbits that don't feel well, don't tend to eat much or at all on their own. It's also possible the antibiotic could be causing some nausea or digestive upset, and that's contributing to the lack of appetite.
