So, a few hours ago some random neighbors brought a cottontail baby over. It looked a little weak and frail. They said they found it all alone without a nest or other kits, and had been out there for a while. They had kept it for a few days and don't want to keep it anymore. From what I can tell it looks to be 2-3 weeks old. I have it in a tub with a towel and a hiding space right now. It has drank water, I fed it some KMR kitten milk and I don't have that much experience with bunnies. I didn't want to turn it to the wild again because I have no idea where the area it came from and it looked like it needed some help. We also have quite a few feral cats outside which worries me. I would love some advice. Is it ready to eat solids? Timothy hay? Thanks!

Please put the rabbit back outside or take it to a wildlife rehabber.
If it was found alone it was likely ready to be off on its own. They mature much faster then our domestic rabbits.
These rabbits are more likely to die in captivity. Nobody but a fully qualified rehabber should even attempt to keep these guys. You are going to do more damage then good.

Unfortunately, it is extraordinarily rare for a cottontail to survive in captivity. Even if you were able to bring it to a wild life rehabber, its chances are already slim-- and the rehab has considerably more experience.
Putting it back outside will give it its best chance of survival.

We put him back a couple of days ago in a place with tall coverage to get away from hawks and cats. He should be fine I hope.
