Hi guys,

I just recognised that i am allergic to timothy hay. That is the only hay teddy loves, but dust is always making me sneeze. My whole family actually. Do you guys have any advice on how to keep the dust low. tHANKS ;)

If you buy pre packed compressed bales there's often lots of dust inside the package, you can wear a mask and place the whole bale inside a larger plastic bag and remove the package carefully then shake it well inside the bag to remove the dust, you can do it a few times and then move hay to a larger container and dust will stay in the bag. You can do it outside too, just wearing mask.

I am also allergic and had a really bad time first couple months but now I am much better I don't know why I've tried many different brands of hay and the latest one is Meadow hay I am almost fine, still keep it inside of a larger bag when taking some hay and keep the bag like closed just put my hand inside of it but it's not fully opened.

Awww I love your rabbits name! My rabbit used to be named teddy till we changed it to drake.

You can trying buying reusable face masks to wear when you're interacting with the hay, such as filling up hay feeders and such.

Something else people do is shake out the dust outside when they get the hay.

Oxbow sells hay stacks, which are compressed hay pucks that you break apart lightly so your rabbit eats it. Since you don't need to rigorously interact with it, it cuts down on the airborne dust. The packaging also says it's significantly less dusty as well.
