So several breeders in my area and I were looking into how to bring sanctioned rabbit show closer than 6hrs away especially for beginners. And only a handful of clubs already in exsitance within our state so after doing lots of research on the ARBA site we have found 1st we must form a local all breed club or regional specialty club then we would have to petition for an ARBA charter.

So those are easy enough to understand but what we can't seem to find are any guidelines on forming a club that meets what must be an ARBA approved club to obtain a charter.

Any guidance from anyone who has formed an ARBA Charted club would be greatly appreciated. As well as guidelines to forming a rabbit club constitution and bylaws.

Thank you for your help I am sorry if this was posted in the wrong area

If you don't get a satisfactory answer here, your best bet is to send a PM to SableSteel, a member of these forums who breeds for show and is an ARBA judge. SableSteel always gives very detailed and knowledgeable answers to breeder and show related topics and may know the answers to your questions but may not necessarily spot your thread in this area of the forums.

Thanks for sharing. I found a lot of interesting information here. A really good post, very thankful and hopeful that you will write many more posts like this one.

Hello,
From what you're wanting it sounds like a local club charter would be best for your purposes.
What you need for a chartered local club:
  • A list of current members - you need at least 6 members that are current ARBA members. Theres a fee of $1 for each member that is not a current ARBA member which you need to include as well.
  • A copy of the club's constitution and bylaws. The ARBA published a template for club bylaws, I tried to take a picture of it here.
  • A completed sanction request form with a $30 (if I recall right) new charter fee. https://arba.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/local_charter.pdf

Hosting a show, however, can be quite expensive. For a new club, you'll need equipment (show tables and scales among those), but for older clubs the two biggest costs of a show are facilities and judges (and awards, the ever present cost of ARBA sanctions, breed specialty sanctions, etc). Because of the high costs, its often not economically feasible to host shows in areas with less exhibitors - though some clubs do host double or triple shows to draw in more exhibitors. ARBA and the Domestic Rabbit magazine have a lot of good information on how to host a show, and it's no small endeavor (especially for the show secretary).
