so I think I’m allergic to just Timothy hay maybe, I’ve been itching 24/7 and my legs are just in constant red patches, I have eczema.

Anyone experienced this? Any other hay I can use that won’t cause this?

Ideally not oat hay as I have celiac so don’t really want to be touching it

You will have to try different hay and see which you can handle. Myself it’s allergic to grass pollen, so hay that have quite a lot of dust I will react on.

Myself it’s only allergic to specific grasses.

If hay dosen’t work, you can buy hay cubes.

Are you contact allergic or also react to the dust of hay.

If only when coming in touch with the hay, you can try to use glows when you handle hay. It truly helps [emoji5]

It’s even just being in the house! I’ll just itch all the time even if I’m not touching the hay

Try orchard grass hay. I don't have any problems with that hay. I'm also allergic to Timothy Hay as well.

I'm allergic to Timothy Hay also but I must not be as bad as you are.

I used to replenish their hay right before going to bed wearing my pajamas. When I would go to bed I literally could barely breathe and this went on for a really long time before I figured it out. I thought I had developed asthma but it was where the Timothy Hay got on my clothes.

I can touch it with my hands so long as I don't have any open wounds or cut places, if I do it burns like fire.

Now I have learned to have a separate set of clothes for taking care of my buns to take off before getting into my pajamas. I also make sure to wash my hands and body off with a damp towel after I handle it too or it will bother me.

I still use the Timothy Hay but my buns are outdoors, I would definitely change it to a different hay if they are staying inside with you.

I am severely allergic to timothy hay, and my doctor confirmed my allergies were off the chart. Even a little gives me big, red bumps all over my body and non-stop sneezing. Orchard grass works great for me, 0% allergic. Really glad others are also recommending it :) The only bad thing is that it is more expensive :(

I buy mine from SmallPetSelect .. yeah it is a bit more expensive than Timothy Hay. I did find a Hay company in a nearby city that sells orchard grass hay by the bale for like $20!! (I guess for horses?) ... I might try that route sometime but I'm scared of finding bugs ESP roaches or rodents! I've heard stories of people finding dead bugs in their hay? Anybody??
You do sound like you're really allergic! Timothy hay just makes me sneeze a lot and my nose run. I have zero problems with Orchard grass.

I started buying mine in bales, my son and I are allergic to both but Timothy seems to be worse. I have not had an issues, knock on wood, with bugs/pests. We have been doing this for about 3 or 4 months now. I have to replenish 4 bales a month. I currently have 28 buns....they eat A LOT....but we love them.

I actually had to switch fROM Orchard to Timothy...I was having asthma attacks every time I’d handle it (even though we store it outside of the house in a water proof container), and would get hives everywhere. Using the Timothy has really helped...I’d say to try a meadow hay or something different because you may be completely fine with it <3. I also have horses and feed bales regularly for years and have nEVER found bugs or anything in my hay (just make sure you get it from a reputable farmer) :)
