Small Poops

One of my boys has been pooping normally but smaller than usual poops. What's going on?

Have you changed anything in the diet?

No. Never. Same (variety) of greens, same orchard grass hay, same purified water.

Did the bun happen to get into anything? I read small poos mean something is trying to pass through their digestive systems but I'm not positive.

No new toys or anything. I think I'll give less veggies for a day or two so he'll eat more hay.

I would reduce pellets before reducing veggies. The moisture in veggies can actually help with the problem. Also, do you use a water bottle or a bowl (rabbits tend to drink more from a bowl)?

Thanks. OK, he can have FIVE pellets for a few days. He'd feel upset seeing me give everyone else pellets and not him. I call pellets cereal just for fun. They get a tablespoon a day. I use bowls for water. Those big round, porcelain French souffle ones. They all drink a lot of water.

LOL. I know all too well how you feel about the pellets. I've got four rabbits (split into a pair and two singles currently) and one of the singles is on a serious diet for being chubby (basically, a no-pellet diet with lots of veggies and hay). They're all in the same room and I know that Nala knows darn well when I'm feeding everyone else their pellets... so I always end up giving her 1/2-1 tbsp of pellets so that she doesn't get jealous. Based on the amount of pellets you feed and how you give water, I'm at a loss now... to be honest, I'm having the same issue with Nala (the bunny on a virtually-no-pellet diet) - everything should be in order, but her poops are still small.

Thanks. Mine are all in the same room too. Each with their own huge pen. Two boys are best friends so their pens are clipped together but they'd fight in person so two close pens it is!

It is molting season, could be excessive hair in stomach...try giving a few dried papaya for the next day or two...if it is hair in the gut it can help it break down and pass.

This suggestion is only if he is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping regularly just having smaller poops. I notice this happen to one of my buns sometimes too. If it doesn't clear in a couple days and begin to get more normal critical care and vet trip would be my suggestion. You could even try critical care now with the papaya just to get some extra fiber in him...fiber keeps things moving.
